iDrive suddenly reset while driving?

So, while driving along (2016 X5) the highway listening to music on my phone through Bluetooth connection all of a sudden the music cut off. I looked over and saw a black screen with “no signal” in red letters. I thought my phone had died but…nope. Then the red letter disappeared, the screen went totally blank, and a few seconds later the iDrive restarted as if I had just turned the car on.

First time this has happened since I got the car in April 2022. It was definitely cold today, 15F when I started the car and 21F while I was driving on the highway. Everything was warmed up to operating temp when it happened. I did update the Navigation map, but that was in Aug or Sept. does this happen every once in a while? Or is this an indication of a problem starting to rear its head? The battery was replaced in Oct 2022, so a little over a year ago. Not sure if the secondary battery was also replaced.

Happened to me about 3 months after I got my car, when my wife tried to play spotify from her iPhone over BT connection. Brought the car to the dealership but was unable to replicate the problem they got my iStep updated along with BT software, never happened ever since.

Happened to me once about a couple years ago. Never did happen again.

Occasionally happens to me. I’ve put down to a software bug with the bluetooth in the headunits.

Thanks all! Hopefully mine is one of the occasional hiccups and not the start of an issue 👍
