General Question: what are your honest opinion of ECS Tuning?

This is my first time ordering and I feel dumbfounded. I ordered some bolts & washers that I want to replace when I do some underbody work.. nothing special but FCP Euro does not sell them.

I ordered these things back in mid July and so far I have received 2 email updates pushing my order to the right. New ship date is now 28 of August. Is this normal practice for them or is it that I am just SOL 🤷🏽?

I've had some iffy experiences from my VW days with them over the years starting in 2013 so I stopped ordering unless absolutely necessary.

I use getbmwparts.com if I can.

So much stuff is on back order as supply chains try to get back up. I’ve used ECS in the past without any problems. Remember they also bought Pelican Parts and BavAuto and I’ve had no problems with either of them post-acquisition. I know Turner still stocks their own parts but am not sure about BavAuto.

I've used them on and off for 10 yrs or so and found them to be ok. Nothing to say wow about and nothing to really complain about either. I have seen the odd thing pushed out from originally noted ship date, but not as bad as you've stated here. Maybe it's COVID-related supply chain issues combined with whether or not they physically stock the item vs relying on their supplier to send.

Understood..

But the small items I ordered were "in stock" during ordering.

That was going to be my question, were they listed as "in stock". I've never had an issue with an order and they have been pretty good about two returns.

What part numbers were the items? I have some misc bolts and washers I ordered and never used. Not really for the X5 but other BMW models which might cross over.

Never had any issues.

In fact, I spent months trying to source an NLA grille for the rare "aero package" body kit on my E53 X5. Their site listed it as still available. So I ordered it. Of course I got the response that it is not available from their local sources (BMW dealerships I assume). Asked if I wanted to cancel or have them continue searching. I gave them the go ahead to keep my order/money and continue searching. 2 months later I get an email that they found one and a week later I had it at my door. It's still sitting in the box as I ordered it "just in case" (glad I did) the one on the truck gets hit by a rock or something.

TLDR: Good company for me over 15 years of use, some issues will come up with current supply chain/pandemic issues. But good company.

Jeez I guess I'm a minority here with the hate lol. Glad everyone's having good experiences though!

I had the same experience with them before the pandemic, when I ordered a few parts. So I think it’s them. They have a poor business model.

Very random to be honest, I had few orders delivered even faster than expected and everything was perfect and then once I ordered something pretty small along with other parts and that entire order was messed up for no reason and took forever to deliver.

Expensive shipping to Canada, always more expensive than FCP Euro, or getbmwparts.com
I haven't used ECS Tuning in years, just better alternatives out there

Yeah, they pushed my order again to the right. They still don't have it in stock. I canceled my order.

I've had nothing but good experiences from ECS. Supply chains are all jacked up and I've got parts on order for my M and GTI with some parts delayed till December. Plus we have a people problem with no one wanting to get back to work. Kind of hard to hold anyone to a higher standard when things are messed up and not looking to get better soon. I recently order a pair of poly bushings for my GTI and bolts. The bolts came and no bushings. I called and explained what happened. They quickly processed a new order with no issue and overnighted them. Got to keep your expectations realistic in this world we find ourselves in.

That's fine and all, but I need the parts now. So I'll just go with a different seller.

I'm done with ECS/Turner after the debacle they've had with their E46 M3 CSL airbox development. Long story available on nam3forum.com

FCP or thebmwminipartstore.com as a backup
