Spring and shock/strut recommendations?

One of my rear springs is broken, never knew.. Started taking the vehicle apart for a full paint job and noticed the left rear spring broken. Since there's about 93k miles on the clock I figure I should do the shocks and struts too. If I lower it, id like to go with the least amount of lowering. It looks like the eiback pro kit for the 50i does 1" up front and .6" in the back. The f85 must already ride a little lower than the f15's because the same eiback pro kit in the f85 only lowers it .4" both front and back.

Hmmm the lowering part of the equation makes this a tougher question to answer. Prolly bilstein b6/8 to keep you from bottoming out. Just be prepared for it to ride a lot rougher.

If keeping at stock ride height. Hard to beat Koni frequency selective dampers.

If lowering a little bit is going to make it ride rougher ill probably avoid doin it.. Or maybe think about using f85 springs

I put the Eibach kit on my 50i with Bilstein B6’s. Definitely firm but not “rough”. If you want to lower it slightly like the Bilstein kit but have an even comfier ride you could use their B4’s, which are OEM equivalent.

Bilstein doesn’t offer a shortened B8 for the F15, they said they found it isn’t necessary. Guess they haven’t seen some of the slammed X5’s I have lol

Oh, I forgot…if you just want replacement stock springs you can have mine. It was a Florida car, springs still look like new. You can have the front springs, too, if you want, they’re still on shock but easy to remove.

Thanks man, I just saw your post and picture of the eibachs on your 50i, I think it looks good, I think I may go ahead with the eibachs and the b4's.

I’d say that’s a good call, I think you’ll be really happy with that 👍

So far I've combo'd H&R's and B6's, that's way stiff and bumpy. Then I've gone on and got the Eibach's and B6's. Much better, but at the end of the day, wife still find it bumpy. We have a 3 year-old taking up the back seat on a baby bucket, so I'm looking into trying out some KONI Special Active Sport struts/shocks coming up. If that doesn't soften it up enough I'll just throw the stock struts/chocks back in and call it. I fear with Eibach's which doesn't drop much at all, stock shocks/struts should see a faster failure rate. But stock suspension is the walk on cloud setup and have almost no cornering performance at all. So I'm debating pretty hard on all these options.

So yeah, I think to have to car staying comfy, you'd best stick with stock or B4 shocks, as equivalent as you can. Springs can be slight like Eibach and I think you'll be content with it.

Another mod that I have on my car is the front and rear sway bars both upgraded to a bigger set and cornering is much improved all by the sway bars.

Eibach with b4 shocks. Best combo. Don’t worry about bottoming unless you’re overloading your car.
