bmw connected drive cost

Hey guys, I have an iphone and I was able to track my car thru the bmw app and unlock/lock doors, etc. with the app.

It shows that my car is active, but I can no longer access my car thru the app.

Did the subscription expire after the 4 year new car warranty expired?

I've got a 2018 F15 X5

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Some thing similar happened to me you have to purchase a $50 a year subscription.

It should say something like no active subscription "Go to Shop" and then you can renew it.

It's super annoying to pay for an app to unlock the car, I did it.

Go to your Connected Drive profile and check. Do you have one? Has all information you need about services and costs.

I did check, it sayss its active already. So I'm confused.

Do you have Connected Drive app (old one) or the new MyBMW app?

Mine did the same thing. I've never paid for it before. It just quit working one day and now they want $50 a year for it. I have the new app so it isn't that.

is your car still under the 4 year new car warranty?

The rep told me its because my 4 year warranty expired.

No, it's a 2018 and the warranty expired in March. I guess that's why it stopped working. $50 a year isn't too bad but I'm not sure I use it enough. It is nice to have when you need it though.

I just paid for the connected drive and Real time traffic info yesterday. $100. Being that I have a long drive to work had to bite the bullet.

Currently sorting through this. I thought I'd be smart and renew it to avoid a lapse in service. Did the $50 thing (because that was the only option), but only some of my services updated. So, reached out to the ConnectedDrive support team and sent them screen shot (the image below). I wanted to know how to renew the things in red. They replied with -

a) Need to cancel what I just bought (they are doing that)
b) Renew after the initial coverages have expired
c) Renew all three items (green + red) will be $150 / year

Their email response was VERY long. The gist of it was, once everything is expired then all my renewal options will be available. Hopefully things go smoothly on June 16nth.

Quick follow up - renewed the service a couple days ago. BMW told me wrong and there was no reason for them to cancel my first order. For 2018 BMW X5 could renew two things -

$50/yr - Connected Package
$50/yr - Real Time Traffic Information

What I cannot figure out how to renew the OTA map updates. I'll try customer support again, but I got a feeling they say it can't be renewed for some reason. It was working fine (as far as I know).
