Actually, did some reading up, isn't chamfering exactly this? Grinding down the edges to reduce the contact area?

Update: Dealer installed brand new brake calipers, brake rotors, brake pads, and hub assembly... Day 2, no click or squeal.

A six figure luxury car should never click or squeal.

well, after 2 repairs (the spacer fix and sanding of the hub surfaces), the clicking is back after a few hundred miles. I'm writing BMW NA. This is getting ridiculous.

I'm about 1,000 miles post fix (just under 12,000 miles total) and it's been silent.

Fingers crossed. 2016 X5 M.

I get antsy when in parking garages. I fully expect it to return.

Third fix. Added carriers above the bearings. Silent for now. Keep checking.

I don't like this feeling. So sick.

how is it annoying? you have a problem that is found on almost 50% of X5M cars, and how do we exactly start "fresh"? Make a new thread with the same issues?

Im going in on 9/19 for 1200, brakes, and bearings - will report back.

We're on pace for 5k annual miles! BMW is going to make out on this lease return, because I am sure as hell not buying it out.

Maybe if they can solve one or both of these noises I'd actually be willing to drive it.

PatrickC23, your just going in for your 1200 mile service in another week, and you already have both problems ?(wheel bearing and brakes) Has anyone bedded in there brakes and still has the squeaking breaks. I'm bringing mine in for 1200 mile service this Friday and I haven't heard a sound from the brakes or bearings, knock on wood. But I also bedded in my brakes like I did with the M3 and they never made any squeaking sounds.

My spacers fixed was good for a month, lol. Now with all new calipers, rotors, and hub it's very quiet. No squeal too.

I heard BMW will offer "quiet brakes" options on future M models, for those who isn't going to track a car like the X5M.

Merc and Porsche (non-CCB) do not squeal or click, get it together BMW.

I had the brake issue since Day 2! I did not bed them, but others have to no avail. The X5M brake screech seems to be different than what I had on my M5, that would go away with a hard stomp on the brakes. The X5M squeal isnt as loud, higher pitched, and really only occurs on light pressure. The bearings started ticking about 3 weeks ago, maybe even longer since I drive with the radio on and windows closed bc of the brakes. Not even broken in and Im ready to swap this thing out.

I bedded my brakes on the way home from the dealer. I only have a little over 200 miles on the car at the moment, but so far no squealing or clicking. I drive with the windows open most of the time, too.

Same here. I had some squeal for the first few miles after leaving the Performance Center. But I bedded them in the North Carolina mountains after 75 miles or so, and they haven't squealed since (at 760 miles as of today, a week later).
