Guys sorry maybe its off top, but did our car have TirePreasureMonitor? I use Canadian F85 and only see "green" status of tire, but read info that it can be coded, anyone know about this?

I'm not sure I really understand your question, but yes, my F85 definitely has TPMS. And the vehicle status shows pressures as well as status. And no coding is required, nor am I aware of any additional coded option that would help provide more tire pressure info. HTH

US cars now have tire pressure and temperature readings. They can be coded if your car does not. Until last summer, US cars did not have this on from the factory,

When I leased my car two weeks ago, there were no OEM winter sets available for order so if you don't have an existing order, it may be tough or impossible to get one this year.

Does anyone know if the 469M Wheels will fit a F85? Trying to see if I can use them for a winter package.

How many of you guys are getting a lot of flats in NYC East coast area? The 21"s popping often or less often than you expected.

Good question. I just put my 21s back on after spending the last 4 months on the 20" OEM Winters. And driving around today I hit more than a few fairly gnarly bumps, but no damage. I've been lucky so far, but the 20s had more sidewall to give with so not sure how it's going to go with the 21s before they fix most of the potholes. I'm sure the milder winter helped things.

Guys i need your help:
I want to order winter wheels. The OEM 20" ones are nice but with the wrong ET of you ask me. So most probably i will go the custom order route.
Can anyone help me with the ET and width for the OEM 20" wheels?

Many thanks

I started leasing a 2016 X5M in March, and have the stock 20" wheels with summer tires. It seems like a waste of money for me to buy another set of 20" wheels... Is there anything wrong with just buying 4 winter tires and having them installed on my existing wheels?

No, there's not. That is exactly what we do with our leased i3. Just make sure you store the unmounted tires in a manner that they won't get damaged.

Thanks, UrbanExtant. After I posted that question last night I kept digging, and was led to believe that there aren't even any winter tires that fit the stock rear wheels.... Please tell me I'm wrong!

Nothing wrong with that - the only reason not to do that is the convenience of being able to just swap them on in your driveway whenever you want if you have the storage.

If you swap just 20" tires you will need to do a mount/dismount balance each fall and spring. Some people may not want to do that.

After talking with someone I trust, I now believe I should get a separate set of winter wheels in addition to tires. I still think it would be ridiculous to pay BMW $4000 outright for a second set of wheels+tires on a leased vehicle, so that's out of the question for me out of principal, plus they are ugly in my opinion.

I attached a winter wheel/tire combination from tirerack.com - what is everyone's opinion of this (performance, safety, compatibility, different tire pressure sensors, etc)? I would be purchasing them at a much lower price than what's listed on that site.

Thanks.

I didn't ask about ET. Bore size should be the same
Check at the beginning of the thread.

From my point of view, 19" won't fit.

A coupe of thoughts for you on why I decided to pony up for the BMW set... I paid $3800 plus tax from my dealer.

1) The F85 has a wheel fitment (size, bore, offset, etc.) that is hard to find via aftermarket suppliers. The limited options I saw were still well north of $2k and, in my opinion, did not look as good as the OEM setup.
2) Beyond not looking as good, I only have so many hours in the day and I'd rather spend a little more and know that the fitment will be perfect.
3) If you have wheel & tire insurance through BMW (or a third party but sold by your dealer), it should cover a winter setup that is on the car IF it is a BMW wheel... most will not cover an aftermarket wheel.
4) And, lastly, the BMW winter setups tend to hold their value well. I have usually sold mine after 3-4 years for 50% or more of the original purchase price. Aftermarket wheels won't hold their value as well.

So, my conclusion was that the BMW option, although expensive, was worth it. Just my $0.02...
