Ouch.. That is really loud. I would demand for a new wheel hub bearing assembly.

bad bearings on a new car just makes no sense. I'll have to check mine out although I'm only at 2K miles at this point. The brake squeal is a pain. I've tried bedding in the brakes a few times, and it may have helped a bit for a while, but then the squeal reappears...

I've got this issue also now.

Left front clicking all the time, and both front on hard turning.

Squeaky brakes since day 1.

2k service this Friday so I'll address this then.

What was the verdict? Was it resolved to your satisfaction?

Cool. Glad they are on top of this. Let us know the outcome.

You might want to mention they put the steering wheel on the right side, but that's your call.

They told me that they need to fit a spacer of some form. Not like a typical wheel spacer, but like a shim which will stop the noise.

Basically it sounded to me like they would stick something in that wouldn't stop the issue, but rather mask the sound.

What is the actual problem here and what should the fix be?

I am aware of NO fix for any wheel bearing issue involving some kind of spacer. I'd hope they're replacing the bearings/hubs, and if it needs some additional "spacer" that might be OK, but otherwise that sounds kinda sketchy...

It does - though at the time I didn't have time to enquire further.

I will be however before any work is done.

Now I got it too! 3000 miles. Turning both directions, tight turns with music down it can be heard, both directions. This is pathetic!!! I so pissed. I'm tempted to just drive it until the wheels come off and then compel them to give me something else. I've had the car 5 months.

Does it happen when you are not applying the brake ? Mine only does it on the brake.

No, I've got to check it again tomorrow in a empty parking lot somewhere (so people don't look at me like I'm insane doing loops back and forth) but it was on coasting or acceleration. Just a quiet, predictable "click click click", varying mostly proportionally with speed until 3 mph or so. My brakes squeal a significant amount which I've just come to accept after trying to bed them in twice.

Any updates on the issue or fix? I know I'm not willing to tolerate a bearing replacement every year though. That's total BS.

Mine happens on every mid-hard turn.

Made my scheduled appointment last week so going to try and get it done this week.

I'm going to try torqueing the lugs to 103 lb/ft. I know when I swapped out my wheels I think I torqued it to 95 or so. I doubt this will make a difference, but worth the easy work.

Doing some searching on the forums, there may be a similar issue as mentioned above on the M5 platform. Here they installed a friction washer between the wheel bearing and brake disc, as well as sanding down the discs, and apparently repacking the bearings: http://f10.m5post.com/forums/showpos...88&postcount=6. Perhaps this friction washer was the "spacer" referred to earlier?

But considering we've got all wheel drive versus the M5 platform (correct?), I think it's likely we could be facing somewhat distinct issues even though the suspensions are related to a decent degree. Perhaps it is the swivel bearing/wheel bearing mating point, and/or movement between brake disc and wheel bearing surfaces (as 2-cb pointed out: http://f15.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...53&postcount=9)? Regardless, it seems like BMW is a bit lost in trying to solve this problem, especially if it's supposedly fixed with folks going back in 1000 mi later to have it worked on again.

I'm going to keep driving on it. I know I'm not going in for some BS temporary fix. If I do go in, I will probably insist on what 2-cb had done, both services in one, if possible. Good luck all and please post updates. Thx!

Well here's what I've got...

Took car in today for service and Dinan installation. I've also been having the clicking on both my front wheels. Seemingly though, it's during spirited driving. I don't hear it all the time. So, obviously they won't fix something that's not there at the time you bring it in. However!! There's one instance in which they will. Turns out there's a repair bulletin for this very issue. My service rep has heard of these issues in M5s and M6s. He is having the repair kit overnighted and they will address it in the am. As for specifics, I don't have any right now. I'll provide more information when I have it tomorrow.

It's supposedly some sort of spacer (not a typical hub spacer) to stop the noise.

The issue itself doesn't get fixed, just the symptom of the noise.
