21inch Wheels, Don't Do it

I got a nail in my tire, the entire country is out of MPSS especially for 21". If I had 20", there's so much more options to choose from. Take it from me, never buy a car with a odd size wheel like 21".

With that, does anyone want to sell me a used rear OEM 21" tire, shipped to Kansas City (66216)?

You can't patch it? I've picked up nails, screws and even a wheel weight in the past and have always been able to repair.

Updated my original post with a photo. Believe me, I would repair it if I could. Sidewall nails are a chance of 1 in 10, my lucky day.

I have the same issue with one rear tire, dealer asked me 1000$ for a single tire
Went to a friend's tire shop and he quoted me 400$, but after that he told me that he can't order only one. In whole Europe there are few left on stock, 4 of them are in Turkey.
Looks like a will replace both rear tires.

Looks like I may need to look into 22s sooner than expected. Which tires are people running on those?

There are no other brand of tires you can run in the meantime?

Ouch!!! That's suck.
Out of the tire contact surface, the nail decided to hit the sidewall.

I bought the extended wheel and tire coverage package (already used it due to crap L.A. roads). Curious as to what would happen if I have a claim now. Sorry to the OP that you have to deal with this. MPSS are great tires and I wouldn't really want anything else.

Tire warranty won't help in this situation as all MPSS for our cars are out of stock until late Sep or mid-Oct. My tires already have 13k miles, due for a replacement.

Found 1 used tire on eBay for $237. Thank God. I bet the used tires were sold to them by BMW dealers when they tell customers they can't "patch" tires so the poor customers have to buy a new tire. BMW dealers make money on the back end while charging the customer a $10 disposal fee, LOL.

Time to go for 24s...

Have you tried calling local tire distributors? A lot of them will have the tires you can't find on sites like Tire Rack. Let me know the size if you did not already go with that used one and I can try finding it for you.

Pirelli P Zero. At least they are not run flats.

Dude, you probably have one of the two perfect PSSs rear tires that my dealer just replaced on my car! And I mean perfect.

I had a nail in a front tire and the dealer replaced all four Michelins for a $50 deductable under the BMW wheel and tire protection policy. Had I known how crappy Pirelli runflats are in 21", I would have done exactly what you did and looked for one Michelin.

This is the situation that I am in currently. Still trying to resolve with BMW NA.

Had a nail in one MPSS (beginning of August). Dealer came back and said there were no MPSSs anywhere in the country. Added that "Michelin" would pay for three tires of my choosing since they were "not producing the tire any longer." Long story short, the dealer installed four Pirelli run flats for the $50 deductible.

Fast forward two weeks and 400 miles. No way are the Pirellis comparable to the MPSS. They are hard, loud and feel like skates (where the MPSS felt like it was on rails). I will not keep these on the car. Already filed a claim with the dealer to replace them. Also researching an alternate setup for the winter.

Ouch. How does a nail even end up there! That's way too on the sidewall to be patched. I had a nail right on the shoulder part of the tire but still patched it, but that was on a 255/50 tire.

Damn. I had been thinking about getting some 21's, but had been warned about tires not being in stock as much as one would like. This confirms it, I may have to decide now between 20 or 22 now.
I am glad you got a tire on eBay for now.

Surely BMW won't let Michelin keep them in this pinch forever. This is not good for their upper tier customer relations. Nobody wants a Dunlop runflat
