Got my 2017 X5M yesterday
I don't have any pictures since I left the dealership at 10PM and I'm taking it to get detailed right now, but I will post some once I get it back. I'm extremely happy with the Donington Grey/Mugello Red combo. It drives so well, the tech is amazing. The 2016 Cayenne loaner I have right now seems like it's from last century compared to the X5M.
I'm happy to report that the iDrive 5.0 does have touch screen, contrary to some reports that have said it's only for the 7 series. I've played with it a little, and I love it. The only issue I've had so far is trying to connect to the ConnectedDrive store, it says there's an error and to try again later. Anyone run into that problem? I have a bunch of apps preinstalled, and it looks like it's connecting to the internet just fine (Yelp etc work), but I can't get to the store to install Pandora and Spotify. |

Congrats, I'm on the fence about ordering. Have you notice any clicking of the axles like it has been reported on the '15 & '16? What does the dash looks like?
Thank you. Eric

I haven't noticed any clicking, but then again it has less than 100 miles in it at this point. The dash looks great, was it supposed to change in any way for the 17?

I was just asking. I didn't know if the went to full digital, like the F15 X5. When you get in without turning the ignition on, does the dash has all of the numbers on the gauge or is it blacked out until you turn the ignition on? I know on the M5 and M6 it does this. Just curious. Enjoy your X5M.

On the '15/'16/'17 question, I've never heard that clicking and imagine the vast, vast majority don't either. Forums -by their nature- tend to attract those with issues (looking for solutions/info), creating the illusion that those issues occur at a much higher frequency in the broader population (you'll never see an unsolicited thread titled "no brake squeal here" or "happy to report no steering rack issues"). |

Touchscreen was always going to be in the 2017 X5 M, the feature left only for the 7 series is Gesture Control. That won't go into the X5 until the G Chassis version arrives. |

I didn't get CarPlay since I don't have an iPhone and never will again.
As for the instruments, they're still not fully digital. The bottom third or so is digital and shows a lot of information, but it would be nice if it was fully digital like in my Jeep SRT. |

I wonder how many people actually prefer using a computer screen as there gauge cluster. I have a feeling pretty soon we will see that this is the cheap way out for many manufacturers, because you just put up a LCD screen which are cheap and a dime a dozen these days. A 26 inch HD monitor from Best Buy is $119.
Like a fine watch, I prefer analog instruments over digital. I've turned down many cars that force you into the digital cluster, personally, like the newer Audis. I like the way BMW does it, you get both. But who knows, maybe I'll grow to like graphics instead of the real thing. It would be interesting to see a poll. |

Don't have too many pictures yet but here are a couple after having it detailed. Here's what I've done so far:
- Paint correction - XPEL (full front, rockers, bottom of doors, mirrors, door cups) - Wrapped front bar matte black - Tinted reflectors - M performance front grill and side vents - IND badges and rear emblem - Ceramic coating - Tinted front windows and windshield Dinan tune is in the mail and should be here tomorrow, and Dinan exhaust is ordered as well. LOVE the DG with the MR interior. And so far I love everything else about the car too. |
