18 inch winters on 2015 X5 5.0 M Sport
I have a question, which I can't find any definitive info out there.
I am wondering if my 18" BMW winter tires (255/55/r18) from my 2012 x5 m sport will fit my new x5 5.0 m sport. I talked to the parts department and they said that the recommended package is the 19" 467m style wheels. He said it was for clearance of the brakes... but didn't sound sure. So my question is will 18" wheels fit on a 2015 x5 5.0 m sport? thanks! |

The standard (no line) version comes with "Double Spoke light alloy wheels (Style 446), 18 x 8.5; and 255/55 run-flat1 all-season tires".
I can't see why the older 18" would not fit as I believe the have not changed the offset or bolt pattern. If you have upgraded to M Performance brakes or other larger third party brakes, then it would be plausible that you would need bigger wheels. |

yah the non m sport models have a recommended 18" winter tire, but the m sport model has a recommended 19" winter tire.
I don' think the bolt/offset changed at all, it's more brake clearance or similar issues I am wondering about. |

Easiest thing to do is try one of them on where you would buy your winter tires. If they fit, you would buy the tires. BTW I recommend Nokian Hakkapeliita 8 for studded or 2 for stud-less. Great tires ....which I used on my R500 with AMG package. I too used a smaller wheel size which looked a bit out of place with the AMG trim, but it was wonderful in the mountains. |

I am use to the non-aggressive look with the wheels not flush with the fender flares in the winter. I've had a 2008 and 2012 x5 m sport with the same issue, we go to the mountains a lot (canadian rockies) so I am willing to accept the look for drivability in the winter. |

The question is...how much worse will the 19's with winter snow tires (Dunlop 3D Sport) be than the 18" snow tires that BMW sells in the 18" winter wheel/tire package (I believe its Michelin Latitude snows)? I know the Dunlops will handle much better on dry pavement, but how much of a hit will there be with a slightly wider tire and slightly less rubber on the sidewalls?
The 18" would look very anemic on the flared fendered M Sport, but if winter performance was that much better I may do it. |

winter rims for F15
Just took delivery of my 2015 x5d M-Sport 3 days ago. Had been using 18" wheels for my 2009 x5d and 2012 X5d Sport as winter rims. Was worried that these rims wouldn't fit on my 2015. was also told by dealer that 19" was recommended. it appears that the 18" do fit. Not 100% if will for 5.0 but a good tool is avail on tirerack.com which allows you check config on any vehicle model and the wheel sizes that will fit.

BG, I,m using right now 18" non stack wheels and winter tires from X5 E70. They very close to calipers, so i moved weights to the front and did work.
Later i did purchase wheels spacers from our forum member R33 and tires looks great. |
