So I am bit confused - the 8th picture (the one with the Steering wheel) shows paddle shifters. I love paddle shifters and we had them on my wife's mini cooper and they were a lot of fun. And my impression is that the only way to get paddle shifters (on a X5 35i or 50i) was to get the M Sport line.
Is there any other way to get paddle shifters or does this mean that X5 30d will have an option to get them perhaps via the sports steering option? |

Whatever the final verdict on this vehicle is, I grow weary of reading that it looks much like it's predecessor.
Are people freaking blind? Is BMW paying them to say this so people don't freak out? I mean, what the hell?!?!? And why are they calling it a "mid-cycle update"? Are people that confused? The one review said it's "an extensive refresh that goes deep to the core, even affecting the body in white". Well duh, how is that a refresh? Sheesh, the media... |

Just read this in the Edmunds review. It's the same reason I ditched my F10. Looks like BMW won't be getting my business on this one either....

I laughed hard when they commented that the steering was too light and lazy throttle because people felt the steering was too heavy and throttle too sensitive in the older X5s. The only thing I like about this new X5 is the more luxurious interior. I still drive my 2003 BMW X5 4.4i daily because everything feels that much more connected. Sorry BMW, I'll probably get the new Range Rover Sport as my next SUV.

for all you guys touting the new RRS, it's doesn't drive all that great. the steering is loose and disconnected, but it is powerful. the infotainment is not set up nearly as well as i drive. but the interior design is nice. it does absorb bumps fairly well.
the ridiculous thing here is that a well equipped f15 50i costs >$80K. to me that means wait for the ///M if you're thinking V8.

Great car, no doubt! The only thing I don't like is the rear lights!

I wonder why I haven't seen the new X5 yet I travel to downtown Vancouver alot and never seen the X5 on the road there. It might be hiding in a dealership here since the pictures were taken here?

This thing doesn't begin to compare to the range rover sport. One is a luxury CUV and the other is a luxury full on sport utility. Range rover brought something new to the table by dropping 800 lbs from the previous model and still keeping its off road heritage, all while injecting a huge amount of sport into the equation. The more people buy into this marketing bs the more they'll continue to make us BS. Sorry, off rant

This will get you killed if you pull out into on coming traffic expecting to go. Those moments it takes to absorb your right foot's command are when that car/truck are quickly approaching you, then launching your BMW forward with the urge you'd desired moments earlier is when you get hit. Trust me I know, almost got rear ended. Glad the guy approaching behind me had good brakes. He also had a big middle finger. Dam you BMW. Fix this.

On my X5 Diesel I actually have to warn passengers when I'm going to accelerate strongly from a dead stop; for the first 3 to 4 seconds, if you release the brakes after keeping the engine revving above 2000 rpms and then release the brakes, the thing just takes off the line with such thrust that when the road is wet all 4 wheels spin for the first couple of seconds. And that really gets you out of the way from dangerous situations in no time |

Nice reviews. TY for posting.
I like the new seat design/stitching and how BMW are now matching the plastics to the seat colors. Not sure the latter works for all colors, but it looks great with the brown seats.
