Comfort vs Sport vs Sport

Hi all

I have a new F15 X5 5.0 with all performance options and a bunch of the great ones to add to a sweet ride. M Sport and all of the performance options.

Here is a question . . .

In comfort the ride is nice . . .

In Sport the gas peddle is more sensitive = what else changes in the cars systems?

In Sport+ = what else changes as I do not note any real changes.

Sport Mode:
1) Chassis change - tighter steering
2) Drivetrain change - more power / higher RPMs
3) Suspension (if you have M adaptive or DHP) - suspension tightens up

Sport + Mode:
1) All of the above changes with the addition of DSC (dynamic stability control) being turned off and MAYBE / SLIGHTLY .2 second quicker shifting (not many have felt or noted this because the feel is so insignificant), but this mode allows you to use LAUNCH CONTROL if performed correctly.

Cary -

You can control how Sport mode is configured. With DHP, the ride is Comfort mode is pretty good at all times and much stiffer than stock already, but you can configure Sport mode so only the chassis and suspension stiffens without affecting the drive train. That way each of your modes will be different and you can go to Sport + when you want the more aggressive shifting.

I feel a big difference in Sport+ versus regular Sport mode or with the shifter set to sport. This mode activates Dynamic Traction Control, which basically means that the traction control is very minimally intrusive. The result is more power and pull because the traction control wont be sapping your power as it does in the other modes. You can actually get your wheels to spin a bit in this mode.

Here is BMW's writeup on DTC:
http://www.bmw.com/com/en/insights/t...n_control.html

Also in terms of backseat passengers, Comfort is best. I recently went on a trip and the backseat passenger said it was one of the most comfortable SUV backseats in terms of ride quality. This is with DHP. But as soon as I switched it to sport, he quickly noticed it and asked me to change it back.

Guys are there any differences between standard suspension, Adaptive M suspension, and DHP with eco, comfort, sport, sport+? Or are the driving characteristic the same?

Also my understanding is that you only get sport+ with the upgraded suspensions ( adaptive M, DDC, or DHP ) Maybe I am wrong?

Additionally, what changes are there when you have the Msport with SAT ( sports auto trans ) when you are in eco, comfort, sport, sport+.

Lastly, what are the differences when you shift the lever to the left versus in normal position while selecting the eco, normal, sport, sport+?

Thanks.

Add to that Louder Exhausts, as the Flaps open up!

Sorry to rehash an 'old' thread but I had to comment on Gott's. Love it!!! In 5 days in the area we had three meals there. Nicely done! Now, back to cars....
