It is an awesome option, definitely worth coding. I have it by default and considered doing some coding which is ten times less relevant than anti-dazzle. Did quite a few trips this summer on non-highway roads in the night and the system works perfect, nobody flashed lights at me and the way it lights up the road and surroundings even if the car is in front of you is amazing. It really increases safety and if you drive on such roads makes it more fun and more interesting.

Well, you're in HK, so maybe you got it faster? I see that you have an M50D.

You can get the 6WB part for about 2k (not cheap). You'll also need coding - but I understood (see wd's earlier posts in this thread) that the 6WB part prevents some of the additional HUD coding from working (e.g. lane change in HUD).
There's some info in the F10 forums about what's involved (don't know how much of this info is applicable to F15 but might be useful background info): http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=666531 |

BMW parts?
I know that some of you guys have gotten your displays in different off label ways, but is there a BMW retrofit kit available and if so, what is the part number? I would REALLY APPRECIATE A RETROFIT part number if it is available. If retrofit kit will become available through BMW (my car has warranty) original parts, I will install it, but if not then the normal extended panel is actually nice. I cant do any other retrofit. |

Just like wdimagineer said...there is none. I did some more research, and as williamhmlu pointed out, that's a Chinese knock off. I read through wdimagineer and shawnsheridan's discussion threads regarding retrofitments of 6WA and 6WB clusters and here's the conclusion:
1) No BMW dealer/service department will touch an aftermarket cluster to install. 2) You will also most likely void your warranty if anything gets messed up because of the install. 3) There is no official retrofit kit available yet for our vehicle Sucks, but that's the truth...I wouldn't want to play around or mess anything up. William is in China so it was obviously easier for him to get his kit purchased/installed.

Take the thing out and switch it with the regular instrument panel if you have a issue or want a software up date. BMW will never provide a official retrofit kit for this part given the history with their electronics. |

apparently the same is going on here (UAE)
The 2015 model will include the new digital instrument cluster as a standard option, or at least that is what the salesman mentioned when my cousin wanted to get a 2014 X5. |

Looks like the 6WB retrofit is available from BimmerTech: http://www.bimmer-tech.net/shop/bmw-...panel-retrofit. I thought I'd update everyone.
I'm currently inquiring about the coding process before pulling the trigger. @wdimagineer, any thoughts? I know you were in the process of trying to retrofit this a while back from a different vehicle, but you decided not to: "I dug a little deeper and yes, it's due to CAS being combined into BDC. So for now, no 6WB in the F15. I cancelled my order just in time." I want to get all possible information before messing with this. I know you guys discussed that it was a simple 5 minute install of the cluster for the 5 series and VO Coding DKombi and a few other things in this thread: http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=700327. Any help/guidance is appreciated . This seems to be a starting point in how to remove the newer BMW instrument clusters for anyone wondering: Also, @apw2607, disregard my comment about a Chinese knock off. That was incorrect of me to say. I just didn't want anyone to jump the gun on purchasing something from China without proper information first. I'm inquiring about everything first myself so others have an idea on what to do. If anyone else contacts BimmerTech or figures out the install of this particular retrofit, please chime in and let us know. Thanks!

Ok, so for anyone who is interested in this, here are the instructions as follows (big thanks to shawnsheridan for explaining things to me this morning):
1) Cluster Install: The youtube video I posted above should be pretty similar to our instrument clusters - the removal and install should be pretty straightforward for the 6WB as such. 2) Coding: First, we must add 6WB to FA explained in this pdf: http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...87&postcount=5. Then, Shawn explained to me that when you first install new ECU, it will not have a CAFD, so you will need to inject one using Detect CAFD for SWE, and then VO Code DKombi and NBT using the steps below: Connect => Read FA (VO) => Activate FA (VO) => Read SVT (VCM) => Left-Click on DKombi => Click on "Detect CAF for SWE" => Select the CAFD from latest I-Level => Select OK => Right-Click on DKombi (the ECU itself not the underlying CAFD) => Select CODE (instructions by shawnsheridan) That's all there is to it. According the Shawn, the only time we need to remove the 6WB is for any service where dealer will program the car, which is rare. The Kombi/Cluster pops in an out in 5 minutes. Once it has your VIN, you can swap it in and out, and the correct higher mileage stored in BDC will always sync the Kombi/Cluster to the true higher mileage. No coding is needed after popping back in since we already added it originally via the coding explained above. I'll be ordering the retrofit sometime this week or next week.
