Repairing trunk dent - inner liner removal

Hey y’all, completely stumped as to how this happened to our gorgeous new (to us) ‘15 X5 but we’ve got a massive dent on our trunk. We have a good body shop here that does work on the side so I’ll see if they can pop this out carefully. But want to bring the car to him with the inner liner already removed so it’s a straight forward repair for him.

Also open to any other suggestions on how to repair this!
Photo attached and thank you for your help in advance!

You can get this fixed with Bondo and repaint or you can order the same color OEM on eBay for $500 or buy a new one on eBay for $600. You choose what suits you. I ended up buying a new one for $600 + paint. You can try pdr too but the tailgate might be too strong.

Remove 5 screws holding the bottom of the plastic, two bolts on the handle, try to separate top piece from the bottom (nearly impossible IMO) or just slide it down altogether (what I did).

Talk to your local dealer or any dealer for that matter bet they have a good dentless repair guy they can recommend. I had several removed after getting my new to me X5 and they did such a good job I can't even tell were the little door dent are now. will cost much less than any body work. Also looks like no repaint would be needed, just a slight scuff that can be polished out if needed.

Thank you so much, guys! Car is black sapphire metallic but will keep an eye out on ebay.
I think this should pop out with PDR. Just wanted to figure out how to remove the trim ahead of time if my local guy will do it.

The BMW, Porsche, Mazda dealer is owned by Flow and they have their own body shop so will swing by and see how much they'd quote us for it. There's two other small dents on the doors that I think would pop out as well. But same thing, trim would have to come off.

Funny just realized you were in VA too and I too have a Black Sapphire Yeah they charge usually about 25-75 per panel so depending on panel and size. The dentless repair guy that did mine works out of his truck and goes between dealers. I wouldn't worry about removing anything either. Good Luck with repairs. Also if you contact the guy directly by getting his info from dealer you may save a few dollars by paying him cash, I went that route and was able to watch him do the work its is amazing an a art to it.
