BMW Mirror Image from Phone
@opasha and @r33, I was doing some research and ran into this on a Korean site. These guys are able to mirror your smart phone image to the screen using this device and code it to work.
Have you guys seen this before? Would it work in our F15? http://blog.naver.com/PostThumbnailV...ntCategoryNo=0 |

@nameisjae1, yea I have been following that thread.
I have been working on some other thing also. More into the coding. Hopefully I can catch up some more by next week as my work is pretty much done for the year.

Finally!!!! I started a thread so long ago on this forum whether available to play video on the F15 using media adapter. I ticked all the boxes when I ordered the car (production Dec 2013). I am in the Netherlands at the moment and I miss my car a lot (among other things), been a couple of weeks without it and seeing F15s around makes me want to drive mine even more. It is really time to code my car. Cheers

OK guys. I got off the phone with IKlever, the company that makes APCAST. The cost is around $100 (depends on the conversion rate).

Well, this will solve my navigation not working since I can mirror from my cell phone. Not sure yet. I will go to the installer and ask some more questions.

Lol, true. I prefer my Note 4's Google Navigation anyway - it's much more accurate than BMW's especially with traffic and rerouting since it is based off of Waze traffic patterns. Thanks, bro, keep me posted!

@opasha, so this APCAST (cost around $100) plugs directly into the IDrive. So no need for the additional HDMI connection. This site said hold MENU button for 2 seconds to activate the mirroring. I will call them to ask if this is all that is needed.

@opasha, just got off the phone and both HDMI/APCAST is needed. The APCAST is the dongle and HDMI is the connection. For both with installation, it is around $480.
Not sure if is is worth it though. |

Thought so. That's weird, I thought @gatordent got it for much cheaper.

Well, if you buy the parts only then is is around $290 but installation fees are included. Let me go to @gatordent post to see how to install it.

Has anyone else got this working?
Hello -
I am a new X5 owner (and forum member). These forums have been a goldmine of information, and helped me decide what I wanted/needed in my new X5. Thanks to all of you! I am working on optimizing iPhone connectivity, and would love to be able to mirror audio/video to the iDrive screen. I just found this thread, and got very excited about it. I'm surprised there have been no follow-up posts since December. My questions: 1) Has anyone else successfully installed this? If so, was it difficult to do? 2) Have you been happy with how it's working? Any big limitations? 3) How did you handle the logistics of ordering? I am in Portland, Oregon. Did you just email/call them directly, or is there a US distributor? Thanks so much. |
