Do we have a tilt sensor alarm?

Was looking at wheel locks when i came across a tilt sensor alarm as the only real protection against wheel theft. Do we have this on the F15/85? I know I have the motion sensor bc it goes off if i leave the Carly in the OBD II. I was wondering if we had this. Any ideas? I can check this tomorrow but i was just wondering if anyone knew.

It is located inside the alarm siren enclosure, behind the rear bumper on the right side.
Obviously, that is only for the car equiped with factory fitted alarm system (red LED under the inside rear view mirror).

And BTW, it is not the only real protection measure... Go through the manual...

yep:
Switching off the tilt alarm sensor and interior motion sensor
Press the remote control button again within 10 seconds as soon as the vehicle is locked. The indicator lamp lights up for approx. 2 seconds and then continues to flash. The tilt alarm sensor and interior motion sensor are turned off until the vehicle is locked again.

It's OBD alarm. Can be coded out.

Ditto the replies above. By the time of the production of your X5...BMW combined the tilt sensor into the alarm module (it used to be a separate module)...so yes, you do have a tilt sensor (as well as an interior motion sensor).

Click this link to the TIS website for functional description of the DWA (Anti-theft Alarm siren) system: https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/g...tem/1VnYei0UmD

someone take a floor jack and test it out...LOL. What happens if you have a sophisticated theft ring that jacks both sides up simultaneously?

If a "sophisticated theft ring has targeted your car...it doesn't matter. In that hypothetical scenario...the best you can hope for is that your insurance company won't give you a hassle and will put your back at status quickly.

Mayhem....WHAT! WHAAATTT!

Had to disable this when traveling with my dogs when I lock them in the car. Otherwise it's a constant siren.

do not lock your dogs in a car.

Or read the manual.

Every BMW I've owned that has had DWA (anti-theft alarm siren system)...which would include e38/e39/e53/f06...you can disable the interior motion and tilt sensor by simply pressing the LOCK button TWICE (on the remote)...or turn the key TWICE in the door lock cylinder.

So if traveling with your pets and you want to lock your doors and keep them inside...just follow the instructions in your owners manual on how to disable this feature.

Guys I'm not asking how. I said I "had to do this" because of my dogs. As in I know how.

LOL - this took me a minute to figure out as well. My dog is all napping in the cargo area and I run into a store for a second and then I think "that sounds like MY alarm........" and sure enough. Took me a few times to realize my dog would poke his head up for a quick recon and set it off. Now I just leave it running and lock it with comfort access or hit the fob twice to deactivate the motion sensor.

When the interior central locking button was located on the center console...you could also open one of the passenger doors (front or rears) and lock the car. When you lock the car from the inside (interior central lock button)...it does NOT set the DWA alarm system which is obvious when you look at the clown nose status LED and it is not illuminated.

But BMW has moved that button from the center console...probably because too many Fiffis and little Cokos would press the button with their little paws and lock the owner out of the car.
