Man, you would think that BMW would do a better job of protecting a 100k+ car. Keeping it on the front of the truck like that exposed to road debris seems like a terrible idea on their part. None the less, car looks great and congrats on the new ride! Be sure to check for those chips

Thankfully it only went ~8 miles on surface roads, so hopefully no rocks came anywhere near it.

Long wait, but happy it's nearly over.

Congrats. I know it wasn't your dealer's fault, but I wonder if you'll get some extras for all the pain.

Congrats! I imagine once you take delivery, you'll be happy you stuck it out. I heard today there have been all sorts of delays with these vehicles, and they're nothing BMW had much control over, e.g. supplier delays, recalls, etc. that span everything from backup cameras, to 21" rims, to steering mechanism pieces, to red leather interiors. In fact, the Performance Center X5 M I had today had 20" rims on it, because there weren't enough of the 21" rims to spare for their vehicle.

Congrats! I suspect that you will find that it was worth the wait. Enjoy -- and I'm glad that they seem to have adequately compensated you for your time/loss.

My auto body guy told me when I have my car shipped, always have it shipped in front of the truck so not to get rock chips. Just what he told me.

I wonder why, it seems like being a car in the middle would be the safest bet.

About damn time.

I'm sure the long wait will be all worth it the instant you get behind the wheel.

I do agree that BMW should protect their cars more during transit like this. A few days after i took delivery of my F15 I noticed that i has some rock chips in the back of my bumper and hatch. Nothing big but there were a few that made me think WTF? how the heck did i get rock chips back there. I am guessing my X5 was in the same or similar position as yours when it made the trek up from SC to NY.

Congrats Pal! I'm glad you decided to take delivery of your X5M! Now enjoy it and drive it in good health, you deserve it! Pics when you are done with your mods.
