X5M/X6M Exhaust ideas and thoughts.........

Question? Since the factory exhaust sounds so good and you really see no big gains on real horsepower from them, is there any companies out there that can make sleeves for our exhausts in either black or in real carbon fiber? I'm really interested in downpipes since that is where you see horsepower gains, but the tips seem so generic and ugly. Anybody have any thoughts or ideas? Ben (RGSport) do you think you have some thoughts?

Joe,

I will take a look into that.
It would be hard for a slip in tip due to the rolled tip design.
Most likely, you will need to cut and weld.
Downpipe wise, let me do the research also.

I removed the factory muffler system and saved almost 60 pounds in weight. I install 3 inch straight pipes and it sounds uber awesome. Deep grugles and just the right amount of pops on downshifting. No drone.

Cost: $220.00!

jpsjr70 , here what I got so far.
Downpipe, I will need a car to do a prototype, but in a glance, it looks similar to F10/F12 M5/M6.

Tip wise, based on this picture.

Looks like the tip is held by a rivet. If it will come off after you remove the rivet, then there will be plenty of options.

If anyone local to me willing to do this, I can work something out.

Down pipes are a great power maker but the gas smell is unbearable, IMHO permeates clothing ect. They will also make the truck quite loud...possible warranty issues too. If these things are of no worry then press on... I had downpipes on my X5M for 24hrs... They had to go, there was zero way I could take the whip out at 5am with waking everyone within 500 feet. I did modify my exhaust too...move the M baffle to the "normal" side and a straight pipe on the M side.

No drone? Is it obnoxiously loud on the outside?

Also interested. Looks like the OP hasn't been active on the forums for a year or two. I sent him a PM.

the tips need to be cut off and new ones welded on, they are unique in design and have a sort of crescent shape cut out on the underside
