X5M Gas Mileage
Yes, I know you don't buy a X5M for the gas mileage but I'm curious to see how bad (or better compared to the previous gen) it is in real world numbers. EPA estimates don't seem to be out yet. Appreciate input from current owners.

I'm getting high 14s on mixed trips at the moment, and I'm "enjoying" driving it ;p
For comparison, with my driving style, my E71 V8 got 16.1mpg on average. |

I'm about 800 miles into my drive home from Spartanburg, and I'm averaging right around 20 MPG (manual calculation), 85% highway, 15% city, with speeds between 75-90 on highway, and a moderately heavy foot when around towns I visit along my journey home. I'm pleasantly surprised by this.
I've stopped in Philly to visit old friends and colleagues for the next few days, and I'm curious to see what driving in the atrocious traffic here does to my mileage. Last edited by UrbanExtant; 05-16-2015 at 11:28 PM.. |

After two days of driving through Philadelphia traffic, and a tank of fuel, my mileage is at 16.9 MPG. I don't trust the computer in the vehicle, so I manually calculate my mileage. It is way better than I'd have expected. I forgot how intense Philly traffic is, after two years on Cape Cod.

Yes, philly traffic is crazy! Not exactly nyc traffic, but enough to make your day a living hell! Lol.
That's great with the gas mileage, I'm just starting to get 15/16 miles per gallon. Joe |

You guys should at least wait until after the breakin period to really gauge the MPG.
What you get after taking delivery will most likely not get the same after 5,000 miles and beyond. |

I've been doing a lot of longer drives on highways (55mph) so I think I'm right around 18mph @ 3000 miles total. It's double digits, at least!

Both of my cars have similar mpg...20 cruising on the freeway, and about 10 when having fun. 3.8 liter n/a and 3200lbs vs 4.4 liter twin turbo and 5200 lbs. Funny how that works.
