Comfort Access Question

Just picked up a 2017 X5 xdrive35i with 49K miles, Carbon Black with black interior.

Both wife and I have work cars so the miles will remain extremely low.

Options (PDF attached):

cold weather package
driving assistance package
driving assist plus
m sport package (standard suspension)
19" M-style wheels with run flats
Black Dakota Leather multi contour seats
front ventilated seats
harmon kardon surround sound

Total MSRP was approximately $70K

Purchased in NH for $36,013 (minus $16k trade for my 2014 535i m-sport - all packages) plus tax and reg fees.

I didn't notice until after the fact but it doesn't have comfort access / keyless entry. Kind of upset about that option not being included. My fault for not catching it but was focusing on the bigger picture of deal and didn't think anything of it because it had the push start.

How common is this? For the life of me I can't understand why someone would build a car with all the listed upgrades and leave off the premium package...

There is a company offering comfort access retrofits. Includes new door handles etc. I think it's Bimmertech, but a Google should help.

If the car won't be in daily use I would try seeing how you get on with it before spending money.

I wonder what was on their pro/con list that they decided to go with over comfort access? Hopefully you got both remote fobs...using them works fine.

Many times I still use the remote fob...especially at night. If you will be using the WELCOME LIGHT feature (at night) to illuminate the lights around the car for safety as well as illumination...then you'd be using the remote over the CA ridges on the door handle. So, though nice...it's not really a big loss for you...unless you carry your keys in a man bag or brief case...and will need to dig them out every time you approach the car.

There is a good chance this car was a demo, I have seen it a few times when I was shopping for my car, since it does not provide you much of a visual attraction as M-sport or comfort seats. Also some people had concerns over security issues so you never know.

I think it falls under the, nice to have, but wouldn't pay $800 for it, which is what the retrofit costs without installation.
