To my understanding there are no incentives currently on the X5

Not many X5 35d available and unfortunately dealers are noticing this.

Best I have received is $2000 off msrp
I'm in California.

Dealer in the east coast has no problem discounting the car 7 percent.

Road trip?

Yeah, the California market is tough. I've seen M cars way above sticker price in CA.

In a couple days of looking, the best deal I've been able to find in the northeast is 8% off plus an additional $2k off. It comes out to around 11% off MSRP on the build I'm looking at.

Few dealers here actually have a 5k markup on the diesel.

I feel for you. You're in a tough market where there's a lot of buyers with deep pockets so it's tough to find a deal. Good luck with your search!

Reach out to Greg Poland at Pacific BMW. He will give you a straight up deal - most likely invoice + 1500.

If you want an east coast CA, PM me and I'll give you the contact information for mine. I got my 2017 X5 d for Invoice - incentives.

So I've been going back and forth with a couple local dealers on a X5 for my wife. I was originally planning to purchase but now I might lease because it seems like my wife's getting a new car every few years. I have never leased a vehicle before so I'm learning on the fly. Here's what seems to be the best deal that I've been offered:

12K/ 36 Month Lease
MSRP $65,695
Sell Price $57939.40 (including all discounts)
$2102.95 due at signing (first month payment, fees, etc)
$708.60 base payment + sales tax = $758.20/mo.
.00160 money factor - .00020 reduction (corp discount) = .00140 money factor
Residual value (57% of MSRP at 12k/yr.) = $37,446.15

If we go to 15k/yr. the residual decreases to 55% of MSRP, which would raise the payment approximately $40/mo.

If you guys could provide some feedback on this deal I would appreciate it. Like I said, I've never leased before but it seems like a good deal to me.

I'm coming up with $751.98 using your variables. I took the $925 acquisition fee out of the equation as its not part of the down payment nor is the 1st payment, registration, tags etc.

You getting roughly 12% off the MSRP as the negotiated price (capitalized cost) which is good.

Not sure where the $6 monthly is lost but is incremental. Google any lease calculator and you can input your deal and you can validate your number. In a lease, every $1,000 you decrease the negotiated price is worth a reduction of roughly $30 in monthly lease payment.

The money factor of .0014 equates to 3.36% interest rate (multiply money factor x 24 to get annual interest rate). I got .0014 but that was without a corporate discount so unless they raised them in March the money factor should be 2.88%.

Let me know if you have more questions. I have leased many BMW's.

Current MF is .00140. Dealer has inflated it to 0.00160 which they are allowed to do. Tell them you will not pay anything over .00140. Subtract your corp.discount which will bring it down to .00120. I highly recommend you to do 7 MSD. That will lower your money factor to .00071(1.70%)

Nubs61 & Habsone, thank you both very much for the feedback! Having never leased a car before, I've never heard of MSD's until this. I did some quick research and it's basically the payment after lower MF, rounded up to nearest $50, correct?

I took the advice and tried a lease payment calculator with the .00071 MF. Does this look like the correct payment on that MSRP with that MF?

Monthly Lease Payment: $681.57
Monthly Depreciation $569.26
Monthly Interest $67.72
Monthly Tax $44.59
Money Factor Equivalent APR 1.70%

Thanks again for the responses and I owe you guys some cocktails!

Great looking ride! Congrats. Like the black sapphire, gives it more dimension than just black IMO.

Enjoy.

Yeah, Black Sapphire is a cool color. My car is BSM and I just ordered a BSM X5. The only drawback is that you become a part time car detailer.

ChrisBlizak, congrats on the X5... it looks awesome!

You need to keep looking - that is not an attractive discount for California.

I'm trying to pay bellow 460/month +tax
willing to put down about 6k total for 36/10k (flexible)
car that we like has an msrp of about 59,345$

you guys think I can make this happen?

I'm by no means an expert, I just worked out my first lease with the help of the guys on this forums but I'll try to help... I used the standard MF (.00140) and residual. In order to get your monthly payment close to where you want it, you would need 13% off MSRP. I used a 58% residual (10k miles) and I counted 6% FL tax, 6k down payment so this is an estimate of your total payment given the info you provided:

Monthly Lease Payment: $448.87
Monthly Depreciation $311.39
Monthly Interest $112.07
Monthly Tax $25.41
Money Factor Equivalent APR 3.36%
Upfront Payment $6,000.00
Total 36 Lease Payments $16,159.19
Total Cost to Own $58,644.39

Having just gone through this, 13% off can be difficult to obtain. If you can get 12% off MSRP it would be roughly $20 more a month. There are a lot of variables so you should see where you can get the price of the X5 to from the dealer but these numbers should give you an idea.

Also, a lot of people are really against putting down money on leases and $6k is a lot. The standard fees and first months payment should be more in the $2k range.

awesome! thanks for the breakup, I agree that 6k is a lot to put down but in order for this to work I really need to keep my payments around 460. now lucky for me the dealer I'm working with has a demo x5 with the exact specs as I want and only 4k miles on It. maybe I can make it work with less money down or an even lower payment.

since 2018 is rumored to be a total redesign, when can we start seeing deep discounts on current generation x5?

No problem! I rechecked my numbers because I had a few cocktails last night but they look accurate!

Another member posted this recently but there's actually a price increase on X5's next month (link below). That said, just last week I negotiated 12.5% off a lease from a local dealer. I've read about others getting anywhere from 5-13% off MSRP. For my deal, I basically had 2 dealers trying to win my business.

In order to get the monthly payment you want, you would need the dealer to sell you the car for $51,500-$52,000. Anything lower than that is going to save you additional money.

Appreciate input as to a purchase of a 2017 X5 335 x drive:

Jet Black
Mocha leather
Cold Weather Pkg
Drivers Assistance Pkg
Premium Pkg

I qualify for USAA credit

MSRP: $63,445

Selling price: $57,000

This would probably be ordered before the April 1 price increase. Approx 10% discount.

Your take on this?
