Here's what no one has mentioned. So in theory some bad guy sneaks up and opens your car... You run away, now he can't start it so big accomplishment there.

I think the real concern was the thief, bad guy, thug would open the door watch the owner walk away and steal the valuables in the car.

yeah, but you can hear the doors unlock, and the car would chirp if you have that setup in idrive.

so if you're far enough away to not hear the x5 unlock, then most likely the remote is too far to allow the doors to open.

And if a thief really wanted to steal your things, they would just need to break your windows. Smash and grab...

Right, that's what I said earlier. A pro will get in your car and drive off easily. An amateur will just smash window grab stuff and be on his way.

Even if it doesn't chirp you can visually see the lights of the car flashing if someone had ninja reflexes and touched the handle immediately after you locked the doors. CA is one of those features that once you've had it you could NEVER go back to not having it. From my experiences i have to be within 2 feet of the doors for it to unlock. My wife always gives me the annoyed look everytime she tries to open the door and it won't let her because I am standing in the back of the car loading stuff in the trunk.

That is way too funny. I get that look from my wife doing the same thing. I also agree that I could NEVER not have the feature.

^^ exactly the same look from my wife... I have a habit of inspecting my cars doors, front bumper and rear bumper before unlocking and getting into the car and my wife just looks at me waiting for me to unlock the car.
