For the record. I had a 2014 F25 with LED and loved them. On my current F15 I have Xenon and hate them. They are one of the reasons I'm switching to a new 2016 F15.

So the auto high beam assist is not special to LEDs and is standard on the xenons.

OP, we went through the same dilemma when we ordered ours and I pretty much wrote off the lighting package. Unless you simply don't care about the $1900 investment, as far as I have been able to determine there is absolutely no functional benefit to LEDs over Xenon... Even in videos with people who have done the anti-dazzle code, I can't tell the difference between my adaptive xenons in my f30 and what I see in the videos. I have no reason to believe our f15 will be any different when we take delivery.

So if you are either/or, I would go with ACC. In the end though, I went with neither... Upgraded to Luxury line and 20" 451s.

As others have said go for both, they really are two options you can enjoy.

How did you confirm this?

Thanks

It's a standard 'option' on European spec cars - no need for LED (although I have them)

I know because I just ordered an F15 with xenons and looked into it when we ordered. I wouldn't say I did exhaustive research but I found very little, other than subjective commentary, to suggest that the LEDs offer anything functionally superior to the xenons. AND I have an F30 with xenons and it too has high beam assist.

To be honest, the only time I have ever used the assist in my f30 is when I tested them out to see how well they worked. I have never used them in normal driving conditions. It's not that they aren't useful, I just found that I have 20 years of driving habit of flicking the high beams off when a car approached. It's a cool feature, but so are a thousand other little features in these cars that a lot of us never really use.

Right... my 2010 E60 535i with Xenons also had auto high beam assist as well. Regardless if it is useful or not, I am not entirely sure if Auto high beam is a feature on xenons with the F15 X5. This may be the case in Germany, so let us know when you receive your car.

Based on this thread http://f15.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...gh+beam+assist it was code-able but not anymore? So this makes me believe that Auto High beam is only available on LEDs.

So you are right. I dropped off my F30 for service at the dealer and then walked across the street to check out the US-spec vehicles and I was wrong. The two US-spec F15s they had there both had xenons and both didn't have the high beam assist. All the 3-series had it. 5-series had it. I have no idea why X5s don't have it. Sorry about that. I must have seen it in one of the German-spec X5s and gotten mixed up.

Thanks for the confirmation, I just didn't want people to get the wrong information. I like to be precise and as accurate as possible and if I am not 100% sure then I don't make such claims.
