3rd reason, whenever you are setting it up, the car behind you will not have the patience or give you enough clearance to do it. Because you need to pass the spot about a car length before the park assist able to detect the empty space.
In conclusion, it is a pain to use it. Not as easy as it seems.

I rarely parallel park or park on the street however in rare events when I go to a friend's house or family event and the only parking left is curbside I am forced to.

It is not difficult to get working it's just not as intuitive as it should be or as as other systems are. I found that if you engage the system earlier than you would normally need it and drive slightly slower it will work more often than not.

Lastly, I have to use it just to justify the option that I paid for. I hate throwing away fruit that I didn't get to eat in time let alone not using a vehicle option that I paid for.

Smallest spacer safe for rear?

Update: 15mm Front and 20mm Rear only fit on the F15 X5 before MY11/14 only!!!
For MY11/14 and after, 5mm Front and 15mm Rear is the recommended size.

Here is the picture on 5mm Front and 15mm Rear.
What is the smallest spacer that would be safe for the rear? I see a bunch of folks have installed the 15mm spacer. H&R has a 12mm spacer, but would that risk bottoming out on the lip? I have an X-line without the wheel arch flare, so I don't want my tire sticking out past the wheel arch. I want to push the rear wheels out slightly, but not too much. thanks,

Unfortunately I never test for the non flared car.
5mm will do fit for sure. Not sure about the 10, 12 and 13.

Hi old friend, it's nice to see you too.

--------------------------------------

So I installed the 5/15 spacer setup and I find myself wanting to push out the wheels a smidgen more, maybe 5mm front and back. Is it ok to stack spacers by adding 5mm spacers on top of the existing ones in order to give me 10mm front and 20mm rear? And if so, will the extended bolts that I got for for the front 5mm also work at 10mm and rear bolts I got for the 15mm work at 20mm, or do I need to use my existing bolts that I got with the 15mm spacers at the front when it will be 10mm and get a new set of bolts that usually come with the 20mm for the rear?

lol I hope that made sense.

Thanks for the quick reply. I'll go outside with a ruler and tape measure, and try to "predict" how 5mm vs. 15mm would look.

The lug bolts need to be longer.
And never stack a spacer, it is not safe and may cause vibrations.

Thanks

Ok thanks.

Let me ask you this ... if I find a pair of quality 10mm spacers can I just buy the extended bolts from you? And if yes, should I get the ones for the 5mm or the 15mm?

I ran stacked spacers on my Audi for nearly a year without issue, a 6mm and a 3mm. Agree, its not ideal though. I had some custom 8mm ones made, which allowed me to run the stance I wanted without rubbing.

@r33_RGSport, I think I want to get the 15mm spacers for the rear of my 2016 F15. Just to double check: 15mm will fit right?

Do you have any specials on a pair 15mm spacers and longer black bolts for it? Thanks,

PM'ed.

What happened to your ex? She can't get that back end fatten up, so you dump her? Haha.

I think I want a bit more clearance for my snow chains, can I get a quote for front and rear, 5mm and 15mm as recommended, plus the requires lug nuts? I would prefer the lugs color match my standard 491 wheels.

I moved to NY, so I think I can save on taxes, but it may cost more to ship? Anyways let me know!

Got them today and put them on immediately. Visually pretty good now, I didn't realize a couple mm would make such a difference. All I wanted was to give more clearance with snow chains on since the stock setup the chains fit, but were cutting it real close.

Anyways, these looks pretty nice and they fit really good. The 15 mm fits pretty easily, but the 5 mm was more work since there was less lip to work with and these wheels are very heavy.

Did find that my old lugs were definitely not torqued correctly since I had to put a lot of weight onto my breaker bar to get them loosened up.

As for driving feeling, I didn't notice anything different. Thanks Ben!

Spacers installed!

r33_RGSport, I installed the 15mm spacers for the rear wheels (with 449 style wheels), and the stance looks much better. This is how the wheels should look from the factory. Although the photos are not at the same angle, they show the difference. Thanks!

Been considering getting spacers. Ben can you send me a quote for 5mm front and 15mm rear. I also wanted to know how much it would cost to ship it over to Toronto.

Thanks in advance.
