They tried to charge me but I argued it and it was fixed for free. Since than, I have not had any problems. I live in rainy Vancouver so this can be a real issue. |

Thanks, i purchased this certified in July amd only have put 4400 miles on it so they better not try to charge me. Im hoping it is just the same a plugged drain. Plenty of rain and car washes before this and no issues so I hope I caught it early. Just sucks to have same issue with two cars from day different makers in less than one year. Hoping t didnt get nto the fuse block and electronics on passenger side. Where I park has zero leaves or crap so it had to be from frst owner who was BMW exec.

On a side note, for some reason, every used car I had ever had was "just traded in by executive, financial manager, or owner". PS, hope there will be a fix for your issue))))

Thanks for your info, the Touareg took 3 tries to fix and it was a gap in the seal of the frame. Took them 4 months to fix it and with Dieselgate I took advantage to get out of the purchase. I really liked the car. Then I bought this BMW and I really like the car but dont know if it will be a long term vehicle. Full COPO and only now has 17k on it. I am hoping just for a clogged drain and if they get it dried out good should be ok but I hate water intrusion issues. you really never know for sure what effects it may have long term.

I hear ya. Never had problem with my X5, but my E82 had a leak last year. Turned out it was an issue with the c-pillar drain tube off the sunroof, it was directly feeding water into the passenger side 'vent' the allows for ventilation of the trunk through the wheelwell/bumper. Ended up shorting out the Comfort Access module, which sits in the passenger side trunk well.

Clogged with leaves? It was a common issue with the E70 X5's.

Dont know he didnt say. Not from my short ownership, no trees where I park my cars. Main concern was no prior evidence of this issue so hopefully the last time

I have a F15 2016 ,About a month ago I had a leak on the front passenger side front door with water accumulation (fortunately I have weathertech liners). The leaked was attributed to the panoramic roof drains. According to the service advisor there is a service bulletin covering this issue relating to drainage lines kinking. They've replaced the existing drainage lines with heavier corrugated ones. The car spent a week in the shop having the carpeting cleaned and the cabin dehumidified. No problems since and we've had some terrible downpours since.

Same problem - soaked from passenger roof, down the A pillar and floor. Low millage 2014, just out of warranty. Drain hole was clean. It is at the dealer now for an estimate. Google search shows this to be a problem in the x5's since at least 2005.

Bump, have same issue front passenger overhead pillar wet and water dripped to front end of seat... and some on the carpet; mine is 2014 with CPO and maintenance package till 2020 August - dealer said it’s not covered and I’ll have to pay for it... anyway to dispute that?
What were your estimates. Here is mine: View post on imgur.com Last edited by Steeem; 01-28-2019 at 02:25 PM.. |

Probably a dumb question, but how do these drains get clogged? Is it from the roof being open a lot, or does dirt find its way past the seals? I rarely open mine so I don't think it would be an issue, but I don't know.

They quoted me $1315 + tax for drains (unclogging) and vapor barrier replacement... I don't think vapor barrier needs to be replaced if I unclog the drains myself... will talk to good local indyshop and see what they say.
