Lighting Package or Active Cruise w/Active Driving Assistant
Hi all,
I keep second guessing my order! So, which would you pick if you had to choose just one - Lighting Package (1900) or ACC with Active Driving Assistant as a stand alone (1900)? Thank you for your input! Regards,

I went through the same dilemma when I placed my order last year.. I chose the lighting package. If I had to do it again I may get the ACC, who knows... Then again, since I've had my X5 for a year now I have never used cruise control so I don't know how useful the feature may be..

I got ACC... For me the LED light benefit was not worth the 1900 price... And i do use the ACC in all kinds of traffic.. Its useful and takes a lot of stress and boredom out of your driving and the braking is smooth when ACC is on

Have both and am very happy. DA+ with ACC gets the edge over LCD package if you can only choose one.

I have both. With the exception of the anti dazzle which you have to code, the LED lights do not offer any additional functionality over the standard lights They look different, light up the road, and can be coded. ACC and DA+ add functions that are not otherwise available and those functions have large potential risk management benefits.
If you can afford it, get both as having regrets in your build has no recovery. You cannot retrofit these features later without incurring 3-5x the cost and massive coding which needs upkeep after every firmware update. |

I wouldn't get DA+ just ACC as a stand alone. The other features I don't really want.
I also never use my Cruise control, but can see the importance of the anti collision things that ACC does come with on it's own. I originally thought the lights only swiveled if you got the lighting package - I believe that is incorrect though right? I love that my lights turn with the steering wheel in my E70 and also did on my E90.

Lighting package. The adaptive lighting works great especially driving at night. ACC I want, can do without.

if you have to choose out of those two options you will most likely use your headlights more often than cruise control so the choice should be LED headlights and ditch the ACC however it would be far more expensive to retrofit either so perhaps downgrading the wheels on your build would give you a better net savings and then down the road the upgrade/retrofit only requires a wheel purchase and removing twenty wheel bolts.

In fact even anti dazzle is available on xenon outside of US. But even if xenons could not do HBA you can replicate the function yourself, where as the other features on DA+ and ACC cannot be replicated. |

Yeah that thread has all kinds of confused people in it.. they are confusing high beam assist with adaptive lights to anti-dazzle. According to BMW's website under build your own and under lighting package options it lists specifically the automatic high beam as a feature. I would think if this is standard then it should not be listed. I had a 2016 Xline loaner with xenons last Thursday and I am pretty sure that the auto high beam was not available.

I don't believe it is a standard feature, it only comes with the Lighting Package. An easy way to resolve the confusion is to ask those that do not have the lighting package if they have the additional button on the turn signal stalk that would enable this feature as the vehicles that have the lighting package do.

I like my LED lights but love my DA+ more. My 2016 F10 and 2016 F15 both have LED and DA+. However, only my F10 has ACC+ as well. I do not tend to use ACC in more than mild to moderate traffic though I might use more often if I had TJA. The visibility in both cars is great, but the added safety benefit of all-around cameras and blind spot detection are really nice. The LDW is too sensitive and I find it annoying.
The coded lights are nice and bright; however, I often forget to even enable them on the F15 (automatic on F10) because traffic is so busy and city lights would prevent them from even engaging. It really comes down to how and where you plan to drive the car. |

I went through this same dilema when finalizing my build. I ended up getting both as I didn't want to regret it afterwards and we're already spending close to $100K on the car!
But if I had to choose only one, it would definitely be the ACC Stop and Go, the added safety of the full collision mitigation feature is well worth the cost. I have LEDs with my 340i and it is an improvement over xenons, but not as much as one would think. Its more of a cosmetic upgrade really. |

I say LED lighting package. I finally got to drive it last night and I was amazed how sophisticated the lights are. The LED fog lights make night driving as clear as day.

I guess it depends on where you use your car the most. City with heavy traffic then ACC and country side or just long driving then Lightning.
I recommend you to go for both though. You won't regret it. |
