X5 7 Seater
Hi all
I was very close to ordering an X5M Just found out my wife is pregnant again, with our 4th Currently have 3 boys under 6 The new Q7 and XC90 don't really do it for me, but they are proper 7 seaters Is the X5 and 5+2, or is it fine for kids all the time The plan would be the 6 and 4 yr old go back there in booster seats The 2 yr old and the new one go in the middle row Just writing this makes me dizzy ! Has anyone got/seen the X5 7 seater and can comment? Mant thanks in advance |

i have the 3 rows, it can be tight for kids taller than 4'. The boosters throw a slightly different mix into the equation.
I hate to say this, but i think a proper 7 seater would be better for daily uses, especially for kids getting in and out. |

And not sure if you are aware the X5M doesn't offer 3rd row option.
With 4 kids I would have to say you will need a larger car than the X5. Alan |

I have a two tall boys at 5 and 7 year old. I ordered the 3rd row, not for everyday use but for those times that it could be useful. It's mainly down 90% of the time and used as cargo space... except when my girlfriend and her 13 year old and 7 year old are with. It's perfect for trips when you don't want to take two cars... the mall, pumpkin patch, family activity, etc. But, I could see it getting old if the kids were in the back everyday. The 3rd row seats also aren't as deep, so booster seats stick out a bit, reducing the tight leg room even moreso.
The best option is to TRY to find one on a lot... bring the family and all the booster seats and give it a try. My kids are tall... so it may not be as big of a deal to families with shorter legs. Congrats on the new baby, btw... |

If I were in your shoes I would go with a true 7 seater. Did you consider looking at the mb GLS 550 or 63. Both come standard with three rows of seats. The 63 also does come standard with nearly 600 hp

GL is your best bet...well now its called GLS. Roomy car, great drive and has a real third row that even a small adult can fit into properly.

I think your best option is Benz GLS. I have three kids(5,2, and 3 months old). I had a GLS ordered last November and it arrived at the dealership last month. The day before I went to go pick it up, the dealer demanded a 15% down payment on a lease which I thought was outrageous. I was able to put down a few multiple security deposits, but 15% which was equivalent to about $20,000 which did not do justice for me. I ended up giving up the vehicle and buying a X5 a week ago. The new GLS is great for families with many kids. Do some research.

Or if you want to stick with BMW, wait a couple of years for the X7.

I would definitely not be getting an X5 with 4 kids! GLS is much more $$$ and personally looks little dated inside vs the new C & E Class. It's also much larger. I personally would go with the new XC90 especially the T8, prefer it more than the Q7.

I live in the UK - the only petrol engine we get is the 63 AMG
Which I like as I currently have a C63 AMG However whilst the GLS interior looks well made, its does look very dated in comparison to the new Q7 and XC90 |

As we all know, the new Q7 and XC90 are redesigned whereas the GLS was a mid cycle refresh. The GLS will be completely redesigned for MY 2020 as they have every 6 years in the past. One could easily lease one for 3 years and buy the newly designed one in 2020. At lease that was my plan.
