Power rear Liftgate

Is power rear liftgate standard on all US spec F15? I'm shopping for an F15 and some VIN decoders list option 316 as automatic tailgate operation. However, one VIN report does not list option 316. Am I to assume it is a manually operated liftgate?

I wish it was. The power tailgates are useless. Is there any way I can ask the dealer to turn off the ability to open the tailgate with the remote?

Don't know if the dealer can change it, but remote keyfob functionality of the rear liftgate can altered by coding:

HKFM2 module

300B HKL_REMOTECONTROLLIFTGATEBUTTON_BUTTON_TYPE

If you do not like it, why not just not use it?

It is and STD options are not always listed.

You are in a minuscule minority.

I wouldn't buy the X5 if it didn't have a power gate.

If you are looking for the power lift gate that is not operated via your key fob, any year before and including 2013 is good. Otherwise it comes standard on the new Gen X5's You can always disable it if you know to code. I have my 2012 and 2014 both coded as it is such a convenience when your have hand full.

I have a valid reason: three times now, the power tailgate has opened by itself. Once was when I was in moving traffic. When I inquired with my SA, he said the only way it could have done that, is me accidentally holding that button down on the remote when the fob is in my pocket.

It happened to me too ones. Key fob was in the pocket and button was pressed by a folding jeans pocket. Somehow i drew a slightly different conclusion from this and simply do not put fob in tight jeans.

happened in my garage on x3 and x5 before I got the leather fob holder.

Now with the holder, x6 was in parking lot, it still opened, somehow. Good thing nothing stolen.
There was another X6 also in parking lot within close proximity, unlikely its code was same as mine.

Once the key fob was in the keys drawer in my kitchen. So the pocket story doesn't fully hold water...

The power tail gate opened on me once with the remote. I solved that issue with a keyfob cover.

You might have a faulty fob.

Mine is set to not open in moving vehicle. Only ever opens and closes when I press buttons.

Best place to check is Pricing and Ordering Guides. 316 is listed as STD for all F15 models.
