Yes. It's called design language.

Mirrors, headlights, grill shape... Same. Lines on the front are similar and they're all moving to the melting rear end.

Biss I was talking from a stock standpoint the AMG is very aggressive sounding. Great tone. I don't like the looks of the new AMGs SUVs. To boxy in the front.

My reference was a small joke. The X5M still sounds mean. But not 6.3 liter mean like that AMG did with stock exhaust.

I have the guy a thumbs up! Great sound, but then again eisenmann makes their systems so its gonna sound great!

That is very simple. ///m cars are completely different in my opinion. Yes they my not look all that different but the way they drive and feel is completely different than a series version of the car. When I move from my M3 and drive a 335, it is very noticeable.

He was referring to 991s.

Funfact: exactly which track is the x5m faster than an e60 m5? And which magazine was this from?

You know not all tracks are the same right?

That e60m time was in the wet and from 2009. Not tested on the same day. X5m faster around a track than an e60m is just not happening. Power to weight and handling vs an suv.
Dont believe everything you read.

Are you serious that an suv will outhandle any sort of sports car or sports sedan? Something is wrong here. And from my post above: the x5m in the dry was a hair faster around the track vs an e60m5 in the WET. Big difference there.

Source? I didn't see that in the article.

And I don't think it's that far fetched considering it was 1 sec behind an M3 despite being a huge monster. E90 M3 and E60 M5 are nearly identical power to weight ratios. Or was that in the wet too?

Ok. If you really think an suv (im not saying its a crap automobile. Its a great automobile!!) is going to outperform a performance sedan. See pic in the next post.

DAMP conditions. Unless this was the very first time it was run on that track - it was from an older time. Or unless it started to rain a bit only when the e60 had to run

I couldnt agree more...I did not buy a prev gen X5 M for precisely that reason...Only entusiasts can tell the diff between it and lesser X5's they look almost identical

To me this is actually a good thing. See, depending on your market, it may be better to be a little understated. I can't drive around in a Ferrari where I live or I would be labelled "flashy" (keeping it PG here). An X5M is understated and most people wouldn't know the difference so that's a plus in my books.

I'm hoping for 3rd row seats so I can take a bunch of kids for a ride they'll never forget (don't tell your parents!).

I def see your point but to me you're paying for a performance model which should look quite a bit diff imo anyway...
