BMW X5 by AC Schnitzer (with 2014 Geneva Motor Show Pics)
BIMMERPOST NEWS BMW X5 by AC Schnitzer AC Schnitzer press release - March 3, 2014: In 2013, the new BMW X5 celebrated its market launch. Now in 2014, there is another reason for the new SUV giant to celebrate, because the tuning experts at AC Schnitzer have taken it into their workshop to give the third generation X5 a facelift. The result is a vehicle which can scarcely be equalled in terms of power, sporting performance and superiority - and the AC Schnitzer version will be presented for the first time at the 84th Motor Show in Geneva from 6th to 16th March. Six performance upgrades for the BMW X5 are also being prepared in Aachen. For example, the X5 M50d will be heading to the Geneva Motor Show with 316 kW / 430 hp (standard 280 kW / 381 hp). With a legendary 386 kW / 525 hp (standard 330 kW / 450 hp), the X5 50i will show that it is truly worthy of the AC Schnitzer engine styling included in the tuning package. Naturally, all performance upgrades have been developed to the AC Schnitzer "Efficient Performance“ principle, which means that although the engine power has increased, the CO2 emissions remain constant. So the CO2 value per hp has fallen. The X5 by AC Schnitzer demonstrates its power and speed with a sound to set your nerves tingling, thanks to the AC Schnitzer silencer of stainless steel with two "Racing“ tailpipe trims (in right/left combination). At the same time, the exhaust gas flow has been optimised, so the vehicle's engine can work more efficiently and "breathe" properly. That also has a positive effect on the engine characteristics. Excellent road contact with great driving pleasure are guaranteed thanks to the AC Schnitzer suspension spring kit with lowering by 30 mm (front) and 20 mm (rear). These qualities result from the combination of optimum lowering in conjunction with a modified residual spring travel, with simultaneous balancing of spring hardness. With a choice of wheels and corresponding tyres, AC Schnitzer has again proved in the X5 that size is all. The SUV takes to the road on Type VIII forged racing rims in 21 or 22 inch, or in the Type VIII alloys in BiColor, Black or Silver in 20 inch. Type V forged alloys in BiColor or Anthracite in 22 inch also decorate the X5. Last but not least, Type IV rims in BiColor are available in 20 inch for the all-wheel drive. The Aachen-based tuning experts have naturally also turned their attention to the aerodynamic elements. The front skirt and rear skirt with integrated rear diffuser not only improve the air flow, but at the same time underline the athletic presence of the all-wheel drive. The range is completed with the rear skirt protective film. In the high quality cockpit, thanks to the raised seating position, SUV fans can enjoy not only a good view of the road but also the best possible view of the sophisticated interior from AC Schnitzer. Aluminium pedals and foot rest are also on board, together with the AC Schnitzer keyholder and velours footmats. |

A lot toned down from their usual work...only thing I don't like are the wheels but the rest of the kit looks pretty good.

Front & Rear look better than M Sport I think!
And the best is the openings in the front bumper are not fake... |

That keyholder looks nasty!
Still prefer the original M-sport. And if you want to trick it out, stay with the performance parts! |

So if it doesn't look bad, I'm sure it's going to cost a lot more!

Pic 4/17 looks badass, but then you come to the point of rear view & exhaust tips and... only one word comes to mind - UGLY.
On a side note - I'm more interested in the engine performance upgrade. Really want to see how Schnitzer's 316/430 compares to Hartge's 322/438 on M50d in terms of dynamics/efficiency and of course price (the latter is on sale for EUR 2,591.56 EUR (incl. 19% VAT)). |
