35i Approaching 60K Service

'15 purchased in May with 54K miles. Just performed an oil change as well as air filter replacement. I know that spark plugs are recommended at 60K but what else? Fluids (tranny, transfer case, diff, brake, etc.)? Trying to keep her in tip top shape

As a general rule of thrums for me, 60k service includes belts water pump and thermostat. With the exception of one car, never had to pull over for overheating. I would slap on some spark plugs as well.

Brakes: Any DOT 4 brake fluid should suffice however, Pentosin DOT 4 LV is what I personally use with no problems

Transmission: Use OEM Fluid ie Lifeguard 8, and OEM ZF PAN, you can get this from FCP Euro ZF 8HP TRANSMISSION SERVICE KIT

Front & Rear Differential: 75w90 Liqui Moly
you'll need 2 one for each axle also need to replace oil fill and drain nut's

Transfer Case: Use BMW Transfer Case oil or ATC fluid by shell only!

Waterpump: 60k miles is about when BMW electric water pump failures occurs replace it with thermostat.

Brake pads: probally a good idea to inspect your brake pads and lube slide pins.

Don't forget power steering fluid and brake fluid if they've not been done since purchase.

All F15 X5's are electric power steering, no power steering fluid need.

I really appreciate your highly detailed post...huge help!

I had heard about the electronic water pump failure from a mechanic buddy of mine before the purchase. Are there any signs before failure?

Also, I've been hearing a very faint whine at low speeds in my parking garage at work. Sounds like low power steering fluid. Since ours is electric would this be an indication it will fail soon. Haven't been on here long but power steering failure doesn't pop up much.

I'm now just below 70K miles and I'm still hearing a faint whine at low speeds. In particular in the parking garage at work. I guess it's a good thing that the wine hasn't gotten louder over the 10K miles or so. Since there's no fluid, there's no maintenance to be had on the power steering. I guess I should prepare to replace it soon.

Chime in if you've had to replace yours and at what mileage guys.

Are you sure about what you are hearing? Could it be the turbos spooling up making that faint whine?

My Indie guy told me 60k was cabin filters, brake fluid change, plugs and coils. Did cabin filters myself (one of the easiest cars I have ever done, someone at BMW screwed up). Dealer did plugs and coils under CPO for an issue I was having. Indie guy did brake fluid, rear brakes and rotors (brakes needed it).

Just had mine done at BMW. Oil, plugs, brake flush and cabin filter. I did cabin filter myself. Total cost in Columbia SC for the rest was around $600.

I don't think the turbos spoil at 5mph cruising in the garage. It's exaggerated when I turn the stirring wheel.

Don't want to be the one who points out the obvious, but my tires squeal in almost every garage. It gets more pronounced when turning. I hope, for your sake, that is all it is.

I thought the Front and Rear Differential are 75w85 either Redline or Ravenol if not BMW? (83222295532)

https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/75w...red-line-50104

Also why do you need to replace fill and drain nuts?
