Apple carplay on a 2017 X5

My buddy wants to buy a 2017 BMW X5 xDrive35i and he isnt sure if it has apple carplay. How can I find out if that can coded with bimmercode?

Per the VIN decoder this X5 does not have the optional $300 Apple CarPlay option that was 1st available in 2017.

Lots of options out there to still add it, though I'm not familiar with them as mine came with it.

Thank you very much. I have a 2016 X6M F86 and I installed 4x4shop android unit. It works flawlessly. I will recommend him same if he decides to buy this car.

This VIN shows as ID5. The CarPlay function is likely there it just wasn't activated through BMW. It could be activated through BimmerTech or similar option. They show CarPlay activation is available for this VIN.

You can have it coded, but if you don't have the internal wifi antenna you will need to add it. Otherwise your phone won't connect. Pretty easy job but does involve removing trip and pulling out the head unit. but will cost you $50 overall instead of $300.

Not through Bimmercode but yes it can be coded. BimmerTech for example charges $300 to activate CarPlay remotely but there are other options for cheaper. Afterward you can turn on fullscreen CarPlay with Bimmercode if you have software version X or newer.
