I think BMW is reluctantly replacing some rims. My dealer refinished mine and it was a really good job. Couldn’t tell at all. They also gave me new hub caps.

I think bmw should reluctantly repair everyone rims that are doing this as it’s clearly an issue on the process the wheeel is finished! Hopefully this is something that has been addressed in manufacturing for future wheels, it seems like the 469 wheel is the one I see doing this the most.

After a year of ownership, this erosion is starting to reveal itself in the wheels of my 2018. Guess I’ll raise with the Dealer on my next service visit.

It's the fact that they use low carbon steel hubs. They rust like a mofo and they don't paint the back side of the rims so the rust begins working sits way through the center bore area and under the paint. Pop a wheel off sometime and look inside. Bet it's nasty and bet your hub is a nightmare.

By applying some anti seize or some type of grease on the hub , do you think it would possible help or possibly cleaning it up and adding a coat of paint o help?
Just picked up some 375 and don’t want to run into this problem.

I sanded it all down to bare medal and coated in some heavy duty Mobil 1 grease from the auto store. It's holding up well, going about 4 months and no rust on the hubs. Even out it on rotors. Tried painting them and clear coating them but that didn't last as long as I had liked.

For the new wheels, any recurrence of the corrosion?

March 19 will be exactly one year after getting new wheels and so far it's clean. Although I first noticed the corrosion after year 2 on the first wheels.

You keeping them greased up behind the center bore? I would at least put some in the bore itself to keep rust from seeping down from the hub. Not 100% that this is causing it but 96%. Lol. Especially with how gnarly the inside of my bore was. Gone all winter and not a spec of oxidation in the bore and no rust on the hubs or rotors after greasing it all.

Idk, I sold mine immediately. The buyer got a smoking deal, brand new wheels and tires for used price.
I hope they’re not corroded, that’d be a shame.

Sorry just reread what I posted. Meant to say high iron or low carbon steel often referred to as mild steel. Lol. High carbon steel doesn't make sense.

No, I purchased the tires (conti DWS06) and then upgraded to the 375’s.
They only replaced the wheels and center caps for me.
