2016 X5 Diesel...Why is there still no info?
The 2016 X5 35i and 50i order/price guides came out months ago already but we (here in Canada) are still waiting for the 2016 X5 35d order/price guides to be released.
Has anyone got any info? My guy @ BMW is saying there is no info, he says they are telling him production will only start sometime in November with Early December deliveries. But I am curious why the diesel is so behind in terms of production/release dates? Can anyone chime in? Perhaps it is different in the US vs Canada, not sure though. TIA

Diesel production has always lagged behind 5 to 6 months.. this is was the case for all BMW's car or SUV. I didn't care so much of the diesels so I never researched why.

It doesn't make make sense at all, especially since majority of x5's in Europe are diesels.

I was on the brink to order diesel but given it doesn't go into production until Dec, I got a 16 gas. It sucks that they delay diesel production so far out from gas.

Just like the ML/GLE, the X5 diesel will change from a 6 cyl to a 4 cyl.
For 2016 only the 4 cyl diesel will be offered in North America for the X5. No, BMW will not offer both 6 and 4 cyl diesels in the US, Canada and most markets, only the 4 cyl. BMW is doing this to compete with MB since the 4 cyl diesel is flying off the lot with a long wait list because of the superior MPG. The are no specs avail on the X5 diesel because it is still getting the proper govt certifications. If you read all the way through this post, I have to tell you that it is a joke. Well most of it. The ML/GLE actually changed from 6 to 4 cyl in 2015. Can you imagine this also being done to the X5. Enjoy your diesels. |

If it did happen, there will a lot of back lash on F15 boards. It'll be noisier and have less power however it'll produce better MPG.

Well..it sounds like there is no real rhyme or reason to any of these delays.
Pretty crazy!

Because that's leaving a 3-4 month gap in production. They are loosing a ton of sales to this. I need a car for my wife by end of December at the latest. If I need it 4 weeks sooner, the X5 would not be happening for us. And since we don't really know exactly when the 2016 X5 diesel will arrive, there is still a chance that we will have to find another SUV for us to buy

Whilst it may seem crazy to you having to wait for a car to be built, it is quite usual for others, its just not what you are used to .... non the less frustrating and disappointing for you I would agree Of course this is assuming that what we are discussing is the reason for your delay ...... it may be something else completely ! |
