X5 means 5 spots, right?

Spotted in downtown Philly. From another CCA member, this is really not cool and frankly if you're going to rock CCA tags especially, I feel like if anything, additional respect should be observed in driving and parking habits.

Is it just me? Or would anyone else be rubbed the wrong way? I park my cars respectfully at the end of parking lots and always take up one space. I feel like taking up more brings more attention to you and raises the likelihood of someone messing with your stuff. I'm curious to hear some other opinions.

isnt that alans car? If I still find a spot, I'd just move on and forget about it. If parking lot was full, thats a different story.

This annoys me more, when I go and park faaar away from everyone and they still park right next to me to be a d!ck:

Was the spot on the driver's side a full spot? It looks like it's too narrow to be a parking spot, in which case that explains why he encroached. Being too far fwd could be an honest mistake.
Just trying to give him the benefit of the doubt amidst all the vilifying. Everyone agrees purposely parking like this is asking for trouble, especially on a modified car.
I'm sure Alan will chime in...

Don't be so quick to judge guys...

That's my car and no it's not a dick move. The lot was far from being full and if you paid attention to the parking lines the spot directly next to my driver side doesn't have a a full line aka not a parking spot which was why I moved all the way over for the MDX that was to my right. The horizontal line infront of my wheel stops under my car. The spot directly in front of my car (Durango) was my brother in laws car and we both picked those spots on purpose. Next to the Durango on the passenger side was a cement block which isn't a spot. Originally I was going to park all the way in the back where there were tons of open spots but my brother in law told me to move it there since nobody could park next to me to my left. Could a car park in the area next to me? Maybe a tiny car could fit but should someone? No.

I agree parking like a dick will get unwanted attention but I'm also not going to let some lazy ass squeeze next to me and the Gti when it's not even spot according to the lines and the amount of space between us.

Alan

Thanks for giving me the benefit of the doubt....

Letting out the air in my tires?? I'm sure you'll feel awesome knowing that this will leave me and my 2 year old plus 5week old baby stranded there on a 90 degree day because I didn't get someone's parking approval...

Parking too far forward is because my brother inlaw parked further back so I moved all the way up so cars directly behind me had more room to back out. The parking isles were very tight at this lot.

You're welcome. That spot next door looked too narrow to be legit. I park the same way whenever there is a space next to me that's striped off, etc.

For me, it doesn't bother me so much that I need to post it on a forum.. however, as Alan already explained there was probably a valid reason to park this way.

topaz330 I feel you... I always try to park away from the crowds to avoid door dings from kids that don't know any better or careless people who fling their doors open. No matter what though, there is always someone that MUST park next to you even though there is tons of parking spaces available elsewhere in the parking lot.

Yes and you know if I parked within my lines I would have came back to some 20 year old POS Corolla crammed in there because it was .57 steps closer to the exit dinging me up in the meantime... At least I'll would have gotten approval from all the internet though

Stupid move on your part Alan.

I am not going to call it a dick move after hearing your statement (sort of weak)....but very stupid. Some idiot would look at that and assume you were a dick and leave you an unpleasant message. I would not make a habit out of listening to your brother in law.

Garage List
yet another american problem--these threads crack me up.

guys try parking your x5 in hong kong or tokyo. i am lucky if i can get out of the car without squeezing in my stomach and crushing my but between the door and the b pillar all the while my fingers getting crushed between the door and the next car. there is no point trying to find a wide sport because they don't exist. all i can do is find a nice car to par next to so they are as careful as me with their car...
