I say, it is not that hard, just harder than the other BMW's.
It took me 45 minutes max to do both sides.

Fine. I will finally set aside some time to get these damn things installed. If it takes more than 45mins you're gonna hear from me.

I removed half the wheel arches and bent back the fender liner. Managed to get enough space to get the markers out and installed.

I might just be the only person on earth that doesn't get this mod. Does the reflector REALLY look that bad to everybody?

Because they are amber... yes!
If they were red, I'd prob leave them alone, just like the rears. Much cleaner look with them body color or smoked clear.

You haven't installed yours yet? Should've called me when I was in Portland for 10 days in July.
I probably can get it done for a cup of Ice Kicker.

Yes, it annoys me when you get different car then the RoW production.
Remember back in the day when we all got pulled over from having side markers installed on our import. Now DOT enforced us to have sidemarkers.

Eh, just getting lazier and lazier when it comes to mods these days. Gone are the days of instant install after delivery a la Kzang and the front lip spoiler.

The install for the X5 is 10x worse than my previous bmws. I could swap them out on my E90 and F10 in 10-15mins total. The F15 is a different story. Its sandwiched inbetween a few panels and you feel like you are going to break something if you keep bending stuff back. I recommend to just remove the fender liner to give you max space. Its really not that much more work to remove it and it will save you a lot of cuts and bruises trying to snake your arm in there to do it otherwise.

honestly, no offense to other products to tint/black out these reflectors.... it took 15 minutes a side to wrap in a black matching gloss vinyl...looks like professional painted to match.

Finally got them installed. Told myself if there was only one thing I got accomplished this summer, it was these damn reflectors.
Definitely a huge PITA as already discussed, but makes a huge difference, especially on CB.

Ben's method is the only one that is valid for 35i cars now that I've done it. 50i and X5M must be completely different because the reflectors are sandwiched beneath things in our 35i. No way you could get the reflectors out by just popping out the fender flares.
