22's and it rides better than stock 20".
If you want to upgrade, I suggest to skip the 21", the tire prices are ridiculous.
If you need help with OEM replicas, let me know.

21's or 22's...just my .02. I'm looking to swap my 20" 469M's next spring...leaning towards 22's.

In answer to the OEM vs. Aftermarket question, it's not a matter of who made the wheels so much as a matter of how they were made. Many aftermarket makers use the same low-pressure casting process as OEM spec. The ones to watch out for *tend* to be the replica wheels, especially ones that seem too good to be true on price. These are typically made with gravity casting instead of LP casting or roll-forging (sometimes called roll-forming for a similar process). Gravity cast wheels tend to fail at much higher rate, because the process is cheaper but produces a lower quality wheel.

Long story short, know what you're buying. When in doubt, OEM is a safe bet.

What are the factory tire sizes for the X5, I see some pictures where the tire look really wide, are these factory or aftermarket non run flats?

Are the bigger non run flats give a more comfortable ride.

For e.g. - will a 20 inch non flat be more comfortable vs a 20 inch run flat?

Generally speaking, traditional tires will be more comfortable than run-flats for any given equal size. Run flat sidewalls are not nearly as compliant as traditional sidewalls. It makes the ride noticeably harsher.

Comparing different sizes can yield different results. For example, a run flat on a 19" wheel can be more comfortable than a tradition tire on a 21" wheel (given equal circumferences).

YMMV.

I'm looking at some new wheels for mine too and would consider 22" but the only problem I have with going 22" is that you can't go super wide (325) in the back and can't have a staggered setup. Speaking to some tire shops, they all say you can't go bigger than 285 on 22". Since I want wide and staggered, I'm forced to go 21 or 20.

I'm not sure I understand. Can you please elaborate? Why can't you go 325 or even 335 on 22s? Lots of guys here running 335 on 22s

Maybe I was being told that in order to maintain the same wheel height as the stock setup and not throw off the speedometer. That's probably the caveat I missed. Does that make sense?

295/30-22 front and 335/25-22 rear - that's the setup many are running - it's exactly same height and diameter as oem stock. People are running these for 3 years now since x5 f15 came out

Interesting, thanks for that, appreciate it! 25 is super low profile...it's all rim but I'm sure looks awesome.

The 25 is a percentage of the tire width. The sidewall height is 25% of the width of the tire.

In reality, a 25 aspect ratio on a 335 tire is not as thin as it sounds.

22's. No one says "I wish I got smaller wheels" but plenty say "I wish I got bigger wheels".

Wow, that looks sick! I love how the rims fill the wheel well and that's the look I want. Is that X5M stock height or has it been lowered? Does the F85 sit the same height as the F15 or is it lower out of the factory?
