Arrow Online Search stopped working

Hi Bimmer Fans –

Since yesterday evening, the Online Search functionality in my F15 stopped working. I press the 'Voice Command' button and give the 'Online Search' command. The system asks me to say the phrase after the beep, which I follow successfully.

However, the system shows immediately an error: No connection.

Have you experienced this before? Any thoughts what this could be?

I'm facing the same issue for the last couple of days. Did you ever figure out what the problem was and how to resolve it?

Defective antenna

When I took delivery last week of my x5, I had the same problem - "No Connection" when the CA was showing the only thing he knew how to do.....telling the car a restaurant name. When it failed, he pulled it into service and then diagnosed a bad antenna which is on order.

I was told that the car will need to be reprogrammed and to allow a full day.

If anyone else has identified a different solution, I'm all ears. I would hate to tie up the car for a day, and find out they missed diagnosed the issue. It's been week, and the part still isn't in.

Just checked mine and unfortunately getting the "no connection" message as well. Anyone find out what is happening without having to switch out the antenna?

Having same problem as well today with Online Search. Doubt all of us have antenna problems here in the U.S.

Had the same issue here in NL. Called BMW and CHECKED it. Because online search via text insert worked fine. When I lowered the speech tempo the system works fine again (at least last time I tried)

Can you post where you found the speech tempo settings in idrive? I looked around for quite some time, and didn't see anything that I could adjust.

My CA told me Tuesday that BMW was aware of the issue and needed to reboot a server or something. It was working again on Wednesday.

You can not adjust the speech tempo in idrive, I just have to speak slower into the microphone 😉, it helped for me

I just tried the system again, and it still isn't working. And.....I slowed my speech tempo. So it appears to be a hardware issue at this point.

Anyone else resolve the problem?

I checked with my dealer, the service shop foreman confirmed its a generic problem that's happening sporadically over the last couple of months. Seems to be an issue with a server setting at BMW but he has no idea when they will have a fix. Its a bummer because I find it very useful. Maybe more people complaining to their service shop foremen may raise the amplitude on this to get a faster fix

BMW Server issue...

Found the following in other BMW forums that points to a BMW server issue and the need to contact BMW Genius with your VIN for reactivation:

1. You need to call BMW genius (844.443-6487).
2. They will take your Vin
3. BMW is aware of this issue.
4. They offered to update me every three days.
5. After two hours, they reset something or added my vin to the server and ALL IS WELL NOW.
6. They encouraged anyone experiencing this problem to call BMW genius and give them your VIN.

I talked to the genius at 844-4GENIUS and he told me they have a known issue that started on 6/25. it only affects the voice command input for POI. I asked him why it would take a week to fix the issue and he didn't know. I'm getting a sinking feeling that they're putting this on the back burner so if any of of you are having this issue you can email them at bmwgenius@bmwusa.com. The squeaky wheel gets the grease.

I'm going to contact BMW and pursue the reinitialization of my VIN. Will let you all know if this works.

BMW Genius confirms it's a BMW Server issue.

BMW Genius confirms this morning that the No Connection issue is a sporadic issue impacting random cars.

They said the VIN reset will take 2-3 days, but might be resolved as early as tonight. He said some cars seems to correct themselves, while others need a full reset.

My SA had no knowledge of this fix, and wanted the car for a day for diagnostics.

So, this explains why some of us have had the issue resolved, and others still have an outage.

I live in SC and mine is doing the same thing. Went to dealership today and their genius guy said BMW was aware of this problem. Does anyone know anything about BMW’s new My Drive replacing connected drive?
