Pure Diesel, D2 or >5% in Chicago?

Hi guys,

This topic has been talked before but it seems that all the lists available are dated. I spent most of my morning googling and showing up to some pumps just to find out that they are not pure. All gas stations in Illinois are Biodiesel 5%-20%. I found out that the Meijer located in S Western has pure diesel. Where are you guys pumping at here in Chicago? Thanks in advanced.

I have been trying to research this and spread the word in the F30 forums as well. I found a couple of stations that I have mentioned in the thread in Chicago. I am hoping people would contribute and we can find more. Pure diesel seems hard to find.

Found an awesome website that differentiates between regular and premium diesel. Not sure how accurate it is. But definitely more useful than gas buddy as it just generalizes biodiesel as Diesel.

Good find. I haven't located premium diesel near me, but this says there is a spot a few miles away. I'll have to check it out.

Yeah I am having doubts about this as I went to some of those mentioned locations and it turned out to be biodiesels. So just a heads up.

Most of our local Shell stations that carry diesel also carry their V-Power diesel, which is what I put in 90% of the time. Here's a link to some info.

urgh, what a nightmare. I notice this on the E70 X5 diesel fuel SIB160113 notice BMW sent to customers in 2013. They noted that over half of the stations in Illinois that offer diesel offers B5.

https://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/at...6&d=1419884977

Quote:
A few states, such as Illinois, have filling stations that now offer biodiesel blends greater than B5 (biodiesel blends greater than 5%); these pumps are clearly labeled. However, up to 50% of Illinois diesel filling stations currently offer diesel that meets the BMW requirements. Pumps dispensing up to B5 are not required to be labeled by the Federal Trade Commission.

BMW is aware of the changing environment in biodiesel availability, and is monitoring state-specific requirements. We will keep you informed of any future developments. In the meantime, owners should be advised to only use diesel fuel with a maximum B5 content

Foods 4 Less stores, Sam's Clubs, Meijers (as mentioned), Mobil Stations on toll road oasis, Shell stations that sell Shell branded diesel (doesn't have label -"This is not a Shell Product") have less than 5% biodiesel per my email exchange with Shell Customer Care. A small percentage of biodiesel is good in that it increase lubricity while also increasing mileage per a Consumer's Report comparison a Edmunds long term test of a Passat TDI
