Is there a BMW "ambassador program"?

Hey guys,

I was wondering if there's some type of social-media based BMW ambassador program? I know for subaru there's one. My brother is an SA with his '15 WRX and he basically promotes subaru on IG and Youtube and just gets a quarterly allowance of swag. Googled it but couldn't find something like that for BMW, any ideas?

Just wondering, thanks!

I've never heard of that from BMW. Don't see why they would do that either TBH. How would they track the value in that or the ROI?

I would however imagine that BMWNA has social media staffed position within their marketing dept which if you look through their job openings they may have something open?

The closest thing I've seen are the trainer positions which are contracted out from Octagon.

Not exactly what you're asking but certain vendors will give you a nominal rebate if you post an unbiased review of their products.

BMW is more into the race car business for promotion - Subaru is limited to Rally. There are about 1/2 dozen classes of SCCA, DTM, LeMans, Pro, and other citizen race leagues. Also, a lot of concours and other car show stuff via BMWCCA. Have never heard of anything like what you describe for Subaru.

The reason is probably because BMW has a very strict idea of how they want their image / brand to be defined. So they're probably too chicken to let random (or even selected) sponsored people promote the brand without total autocratic control. Subaru doesn't have that issue.

To be honest if BMW started giving swag to "influencers" on IG to promote sales, that's probably my cue to move on.

I figured that they were using the BMWCCA to serve this function (and this forum?) - they do give a HEFTY rebate to members, and probably a ton of support in-kind for the driving events, etc ($1000 off is better than another keychain or USB). They don't really need the 'gee whiz they're neat' type of internet buzz, and they seem more than capable of putting out their own tech info and news via conventional outlets. I'm also with pz619 that it's probably better to not have random internetters out there 'promoting' w/o some kind of quality control, and even if everybody does it, I still think paying for reviews is tacky/suspicious.

Unless you are a public figure of some sort, dont expect any recognition from large corporations. I was in the loyalty program for Samsung mobile when it existed, and we had a "White Glove" service for selected public figures who would promote the product a VERY specific way in return for free products and servicing. I know BMW isn't samsung, but i think it offers as a fair enough contrast. If you want free "Swag" go apply for sponsorships from various aftermarket companies, you might get lucky.

Ahh lol free swag i was thinking of was like ... junk that i use and would be cool to have w/ a BMW logo but dont really wanna pay for full price... like a BMW umbrella. My brother gets me these giant golf Subaru umbrellas and they're really good quality too. Just looks weird when I whip one out of the back of a bmw LOL. and he get's like a quota every quarter to spend on swag to keep or give away at events. stickers, clothing, diecast models, etc.

That swag stuff speaks better to the younger, more impressionable Subaru buyer demographic. I could see it helping Subaru's sales. It's not a very popular or well known manufacturer.

I think the BMW buyer demographic is a different type. I don't see swag doing anything to increase their sales or popularity. Just about everyone out there either drives a BMW or would already love to if they had the option. Swag in everyone's faces won't do much IMO.
