Need need key, 16 w/ CA
I have a 2016 with F15 with comfort access.
Lost my spare key.... What's the lease expensive way to replace? Dealer quoted $450-600. I don't necessarily care about the physical key being cut or keeping CA if it will save me a boat load of cash. Just lock /unlock and start. Any suggestions? |

it depends on if you want CA for your spare. The absolute cheapest is to get a key with no CA features. (on my '12) I contacted BMW of Fairfax https://bmwoffairfaxparts.com/ non-CA keys costs like $250. You can program it yourself.
They will require you to scan info that proves you own the car and they'll mail you the key upon payment. Non-CA keys can be used for remote lock/unlock and driving the car. That's it. I would also email them for a quote on a CA key. CA keys are more expensive, they'll mail it to your local dealership, and will require programming. Expect a $400+ bill when all said and done.

Just bought the CA key from local bmw parts dept. I asked the counter guy about programing. He got a bmw genius who did it in 2 minutes. And CA still works. They were going to charge me 2 hours labor to program what he did in literally 2 minutes.
