Natural metal fatigue is all. On a big surface like a hood the center naturally concaves a bit over time. When the margin for error in a new "taut" hood with the intake is barely a 1/16" of clearance it doesn't leave a lot of wiggle room to hope for--- even a hard enough road imperfection could cause enough shifting for the lid to get marred at that point.
Interesting, on F15 and F85 exact same part numbers on hood and hinges...

All I know is the couple 50i's it was test fit on had next to no clearance between the hood and the lid. Perhaps the S63TU sits lower then the N63TU for some reason.

Exactly S63TU sits lower also rad support sits lower too that's the reason.

Hmm maybe I can just get some stick on foam or felt pad to stick to underside of hood in vicinity of where it would touch. Just thinking of easy ways to add this to a larger market.
