X5 M or M550i?

Hey Guys!

I'm currently in a dilemma of "what car to choose" and I thought I'd take your opinions! I'm currently looking at an X5 M and an M550i. I drive a 2017 X6 xDrive50i and the new car will be a second car to use. I don't know which one to choose! I love both! I'm also looking at a Range Rover Sport but everyone tells me that's a bad choice. What do you guys think?

I like real gauges. And the X5M is probably the best driving car of the three.

I would probably return the X6 5.0 and get an X6M/X5M and keep a single car.

If you are keeping your current X6, then by all means, get the M550i.

Two X6 vehicles is silly. (...says the man who, for several months, owned a 2007 Z4 3.0si Coupe, and a 2008 Z4 M Coupe. "But honey, they are different colors of blue!!!")

I'm planning on keeping my X6 for a long time! I definitely will not get an X6 M when I have an X6.

Another thing is, I'm worried an X5 M would be somewhat boring because it'll have almost the same interior as my X6!

The M550i sounds like a good choice because it's all new, and has more advanced technology and safety systems!

If you're keeping the X6 x50, then wait for the new M5

If you get a 550 then you'll still be without an M

So instead of having two SUVs, I would rather have 1 4 door car, and an SUV.

At this point, I would probably wait for next M5. Whatever you do, don't get a Range Rover, I rented one recently and it's infotainment system is stuck in 2004.

I am driving a new 650 as a loaner car from BMW. It felt faster than my X5M for a bit, but after I got used to it, I feel it is missing some power... I think the RWD effect gives me more of a punch in my stomach but I could not deal with spinning tires and traction going on most of the time. First gear is meaningless. Point is go for an AWD (M5 or X5M).
Since you are in Qatar, look for a used X5M they drop in value big time in the ME. Get one with 3K Km for 2/3 of the price. and trade your X6 with the 550

Ohh and skip the Range Rover! they are swarming like bees already in the ME. Get something different. Everything in the X5M interior is easy to fall in love with (comparing it to the loaner I am driving 650) and it is much better built than a NON-M car/SUV

Lol dude I'm not getting rid of the X6 because I'm not the only one who drives it. My plan is getting something as a second car with the X6, and the reason I'm feeling kind of "meh" about the X5 M is that is has almost the same interior and exact options as my X6 so I find it pointless! It's just a faster engine, different body kit, and rear end! The M550i will be different in looks and feel which will make it feel different moving between it and the X6 on a regular basis, but I like the used idea!

Well, I agree about Range Rovers swarming like bees, which makes it better for me because when I decide to get rid of it it'll have a not so bad resale value and will go away pretty fast. The one I'm looking at is a 2017 HSE Dynamic with pretty much everything except seat cooling and heating, it even has the new infotainment system which is quite impressive! Many other people are telling me to wait for the Facelift though. What I'm thinking is that I take something temporary for now and decide later on what I really do want, being a petrolhead that loves everything makes it really hard to choose ONE car

Well I really think you are in luck. The new M5 ordering guy is already out. I would skip the X5M and M550 if you already have the X6 and would order one of this:

Take my advice man, go for used (light used) and enjoy it then you can resell it without hurting your pockets. Find something within your budget and go for it. You can negotiate off listed price anywhere from 20-70K .

Since you already have an X6, buying an X5M would seem all too familiar, besides the feel and performance ofcourse. I'd say try the M550i. It's new, powerful and a looker.

That's what I've been thinking, and later on and switch to the facelifted Range Rover Sport! Now comes the color choices,,, Bluestone or Alpine White?

My X6 is space grey and I'm thinking of going for white because it shows all the curves and edges of the car..
