I coded a few things and got a check engine light after the 3or forth thing. Do I have to purchase bimmerlink to clear the CEL? Or will the check engine light go away on its own after I leave it parked overnight?

I have the BimmerLink app also. I generally check for and clear errors after coding (several will show up, never had a CEL). Use it to clear them, usually takes a few rounds of "clear errors".

I had a few errors about parking brake, traction control and others but those cleared themselves after restarting the car. The check engine just won't go away. I'll start it in the morning and drive it to work, if the CEL doesn't resolve itself I guess I'll spend the cash on bimmerlink to clear the CEL.

It usually depends on which modules you code whether they will go away on their own. But, sounds like you have it planned right and can always purchase if they do not dissipate.

Mine's a 2015 and won't work. For a long time, 5 didn't even show as an option, it just showed 1 or 3. Recently, after one of the updates, 5 finally showed up as an option. I thought, cool, it'll work now. Nope. Selected 5, but no go. Tried it several times, but doesn't work.

So I ended up buying bimmerlink and cleared the CEL no problem. All seems good now I can start playing with bimmercode and not worry about errors that are easily cleared.

I can't seem to get turn signals on hud to work. I make sure to enable it in the two places needed but still nothing.

Saw BimmerCode was updated past week... anyone tried to see if "dazzle LED headlights" can be access now? I got my car exactly the way I want except for dazzle LED... so close!

Bingo! My 5 blinkers finally worked! All i had to do is to create a new profile, and under the new profile, all worked.

I can get my 2017 X5M to see the OBD device, read the ECU's, supposedly write the ECU's via Bimmercode, but the changes don't seem to take effect. I've only tried mirror folding, and turn signal indicators in the HUD. I also ran BimmerLink after to correct any errors.

Anyone have any ideas?

What version of the Vgate did you use?

The car was running with ignition on while reading ECU and coding? I'm not sure if it's required but worth a shot.
