Installed Bilstien B6, and DWS

I must say I'm quite happy with this upgrade to my 2015 xLine X5.
The improvement in handling is very noticeable.
The nose tucks in nice and tight in sweeping curves, the steering is firmer with more feedback, and it tracks so much better I can remove my hands from the steering wheel and it's like on rails. I know this a lot of cliches but it did improve my X5 , to what I felt a Sports Pack should do to the suspension . New BMW's the sports pack is just cosmetic upgrades , as the suspension geometry is calibrated for Run Flat tires only, which to me is sad.

I liken this to my experience with a 530 E39 , in non-Sport Pack this is a nice sedan very Buick like in it's ride and handling , but get a 530 E39 w/ Sports Pack and a 5 speed and it is the Ultimate Driving Machine , harking to the advertising hook.

Anyone that wants to add a bit more Sport to their Sport Utility Vehicle that didn't check the DHP option, this addition of Bilstien B6 HP shocks and upgraded non run flat performance tires will do the trick.

Can you share if your car has rear bags due to 3rd row seating? The Bilstein website is weird because the part numbers you listed are correct for a car with coils in the front and rear axle, but when you select the option of coils in front and airbag in back, it deletes the rear shocks. I'd still need shocks in the rear even with bags, and wasn't too sure if it was a mistake on their website.

My ride quality has declined at 55K miles, and while I'm more sensitive to steering suspension depletion, I was pondering if I should just go ahead and replace all the suspension bushings as well as upgrading to the B6s.

Did you replace the strut mounts too?

Thanks for the help.

Nice review!
So you still have the stock springs then, or?

I have VTF springs up front which are great for me, but passengers hate it, and I'm not sure if the valving of the B6 would make it worse or better.
I just know that the factory ride was too "soft" for me, and had to be changed.

I'm also switching to the non-RFT's soon, which will help.
But spending a grand on B6 shocks, or going with the KW3's is what I'm debating over right now.

I decided to stay with stock shocks for now, they are still good. Finally made time to work on the muffler delete, and getting close to be done with that.
Might revisit replacing the shocks this spring.
