I had a similar noise that turned out to be the rear hatch where the mating plastic surfaces come together. I cleaned the parts using an automotive rubber/plastic cleaner that provided a bit of lubrication.

Do you happen to have rear comfort seats? If so, it is coming from the center. If you put in weight there, you will not hear creaking sound. I used to have that problem.

Currently have a rattling noise coming from the back over bumps.
After taking everything out, I believe it's coming from where the parcel shelf connects as you can see some paint being rubbed off. Going to stick some felt on this weekend and see if that solves it. Maybe you can check the parcel shelf just in case.

Most likely it is the trunk cover. I have the same issue. Was driving me nuts because it's a new car and my thought is that everything should still be tight and quiet. I removed it and it stopped. Some of these come don't snap in tight I guess because I recently got a loaner that was quiet and checked it on this one and super tight. No give. I put it back in because don't like the way it looks without it. At least I know what it is now. Wonder if the dealer can do anything about this since there seem to be more vehicles with this issue. Try removing it and see if it stops.

Open the trunk and take a look at the plastic piece on the driver side to see if there are any scratches. I had this issue and i saw the latch and plastic piece holding onto the car had small scratches. I used some electric tape around the latch and the problem was solved. The passenger side didn't have this issue. Hope this solves your problem.
Here's a picture of the plastic piece on the car, tape the latch that's on the trunk when lifted up Last edited by IvanLZ; 07-22-2017 at 10:36 AM.. |

It is a back gate. Known issue. At the middle of the second page, I posted a solution. http://f15.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...ight=back+gate
