Question Touch lock/unlock Door Function Not Working

Is there something I touched to automatically turn it off? It just stopped working?

Did you leave the car for a long time, like 24 hours or longer?

I have had mine not work a few times but always after a gap of at least 24 hours or so.

Maybe the car could not see your key because of where you were keeping it.
Radio interference can also not make the system work in particular areas

If I have my key in a pocket that is not next to the door mine will not work. The distance required is very short and the X5 will not pick up the key through my body if I am standing sideways, I will have to turn so the key is closer.

This is the only downside I have found to the comfort access. The range I feel is about 12 inches too short.

On a side note, I never had this issue with my E89 nor my E70's comfort access.

Its probably because of the new types of thefts with comfort access type systems that are getting out of control.

Thieves use a signal amplifier to trick the car into thinking your key is near and it allows them to unlock the car while you are sitting in a restaurant/shop nearby or leave your key lying near your garage at home.

Long range system like the Audi one seem most affected

Another way is one person distracts you near the car while another unlocks the car (because you are nearby with a key) and grabs your valuables.

The shorter range helps prevent this
