But think about your next car being diesel as the engines match the type of car very well. The latest diesel we have is extraordinary - it really is - the M50d. The 40d we had previously was also an excellent engine.

The M50d pulls like a locomotive down low so progress is easy in such a big heavy car, but will rev out happily with real vigour as well. It even sounds good - although there is definitely some sound trickery going on to achieve that (personally I couldn't care less that there are some fake noises going on but some people do).

Drive one when your lease is coming due - you might just get seduced by the dark side!
Hi, what sort of MPG are you getting please.

3. BMW X6M (555 HP) Hamann - sold yesterday
4. Land Rover 5.0 SC - 510 HP (on sale)
5. Jaguar XKR 5.0 SC Red - 510 HP = my love.

6. So, after 3 years of big gasoline engines, I had enough!
Yes, they sound great, but that's it!

The fuel economy is terrible and in my country 1l of gas is ~ 1.2 EUR ~ 1.3 USD ~ 5 USD/Gallon!

On X6M, I rarely saw 20l/100 Km ~ 11.76 MPG US!
On Land Rover, the medium fuel "economy" was 21l/100km ~ 11.2 mpg US!

After ~ 4 years, I'm back to diesel! I'm waiting for my X5 M50d (381 HP).
I've already ordered a tuning box ~ 420 HP!

7. Land Rover Evoque 2.2 SD (190 HP) for my wife (planned soon)
Which tuning box?.

Agree on this - the only problem here is we also have a premium diesel in the UK and I always get tempted by it! V-Power diesel it is - by Shell - and I convince myself that the M50d engine deserves a fuel with the extra additives in it...

25mpg UK at the moment - when it loosens up I expect 27 - but this car does a lot of short city type journeys. If you are on a commute or travel long distances then I would expect 33-36 (which is what we had in the 40d previously)

I was in Colorado the other day and saw diesel cheaper than regular! I couldn't believe it.

I'm a big fan of DTE, with their programable box. (they make boxes for Brabus)

It has 3 power settings, each with 3 levels.
If you change the car, you get a free reprogramming (if the box is compatible).

I've been really happy with the power delivery and overall driveability of my 35d. Very smooth and quiet. The mileage has been great as well, as I drive a lot of extended kms on the highway for work (10-12 hour trips) on a regular basis. I love being able to basically just all day and not need a fuel up. One of the primary reasons for me choosing the diesel was that my company won't pay for premium fuel, which is strange as diesel is on par in this area vs. 91/92 octane. You can't really go wrong with any of the three engine choices on the F15...I drove all 3 before buying my 35d, and was very impressed with each.

+1 for the 35d. A couple things - an SUV is basically a truck, so I have no issues with it sounding like one (in fact, I almost prefer it in that setting). The other consideration is that in city driving (a lot of what I do), I get the off-the-line grunt of the V8, without paying the $13K extra for it.

On the highway, yeah, you can feel that it's a lower HP engine, but then I see the range estimator edge towards 700mi on a full tank, and that's not a bad thing either.

Also - diesel and regular are dancing around each other right now in Chicago.

I think I have an M3 problem.
