Instrument cluster change on x5

Hey guys. So I'm kinda in between roads on deciding between an x5 or x6. I love the new digital instrument cluster on the x6. I was wondering if anyone knows will there be a change coming to the x5s cluster since it's basically out dated. I was wondering if there going to change it

It's available now in the UK to order as a stand alone option.

The instrument cluster is worth around $600 but I think you must install it yourself (aftermarket) if you're going for an F15 without the option of the 6WB.

Schaeffs - That's good to hear I've just placed on order for my new X5 today and included this as an option ..... seemed good value at £325 ..... The only vehicle I've seen it fitted is a 6 series .... do you happen to know if its pretty much the same ?

The 2016 ordering guides will probably be out within the next week or two, you might just want to wait to see.

Don't get me wrong because the tech behind it is nice and cool but the actual display is less than impressive due the display quality being mediocre at best.
If the display was of higher quality then I would be interested in getting it.

But if you are interested this can be retrofitted which was already done by a member Opasha here http://f15.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...3#post16691553

Where to buy?: Part number is 62109363265
Approx. Price: $1700 shipped.

Also here is a PDF file listing this as a add-on option after taking delivery of your X5... When I ordered my X5 2 months ago my CA knew nothing about it. She said she would investigate and get back to me.. nothing so far.

Fair warning to you guys ( In my opinion ).. the LCD instrument screen is of low quality... so its not worth it. Other car manufactures offer more crisper better digital displays.

I have had it for a couple years on a 650i, and I agree.

The new 7 series is coming out with a new digital cluster, hopefully it will be a big step up from the current version.

I have the LCD cluster on my X6 and I like it a lot.

Do you think that you'll be able to retrofit 16s? The replacement requires coding and BMW has managed to make coding quite difficult in the last couple revs of the software, right?

Is anyone here willing to take pics of the digital cluster? This is one of the deciding factors for my next car.

I am between an X6M or an X6 50i, but one of the reasons I'm leaning towards the 50i is the digital cluster that is not available for the X6M.

My current car has the anolog dials with the digital bottom, but the YouTube videos of the full digital cluster makes me want that feature in my new car.

... so, it the digital cluster really worth being a factor in the decision making process for my next car in a few months?

The cluster photos are near the bottom. I only did sport and Eco pro mode though. Who needs stinkin' comfort mode anyway?

There's some things that only show up when you're driving. I haven't graduated to that kind of photography yet .

Haven't seen it on the 6'er but would bet it's the same with software tweaks to differentiate it. Mine says X5 M50d on it...

Will post a few pics

That X5 M50d on there looks kool. Just in case you forget the car you're driving! I like the round speed limit icon too. Very nice.

One of my customers has it on his 2015 X5 M Sport. Thats where I first saw it and fell in love lol. When I order mine I really want it included. What package adds that?

Thanks for the link and the pics.

I remember that thread when you picked up your X6. I forgot how your car made me drool, lol.

Very nicely done with the color combos... I was thinking I would be disappointed if I went with a 50i M sport over the X6M, but seeing your car makes me realize that I would be very content with a car likes yours.

How has the experience between the out going model and your current x6 been?

Awesome pics. Looking at these pictures, I fail to see how the display is lacking or sub par compared to any other car out there.

It was mentioned earlier in this thread that BMW digital cluster is not that great when compared to other manufacturers...

The speed limit display is also an extra! About £220 off the top of my head. It is a great addition and comes on the display as well as the HUD.

On other cars I have/had you can customize the display to show different things, and have more information on it. With this one all you have is sport, comfort, and eco mode. The displays and colors change a bit but the info stays the same.

Interesting with the PDF. Installation time 0.5 hours. Seems like the coding required for Opasha would take longer.
Could F15s built after 08/14 have plug and play support for it?

Go find a X6 at a dealer and check out the digital display in person. You will see that the images are pixelated and not "crisp" as it should be.
