2016-2 Map Update doesn't ask FSC code why??
Dear Bimmers,
I got my 2016 X5 at last year and was shipped with NEXT 2015-2 map data. I have searching a lot of information about how to update map and I got some information from them. After investigation, I generated FSC code by using ESYS cable and downloaded NEXT 2016-2 map data into usb drive. Since it takes about 45min, I started the engine and plug the usb drive into my x5. it asked me to update the map and I selected "Yes". Then it start to update without asking FSC code. Doen anyone seen it like this before? I am really wondering about it. Also after update, I checked the updated version and looks right. Thanks, |

Yeah, my first update did not ask for the code, so probably installed by the factory? Subsequent updates have required codes though.

I have had all kind of combination of codes an no codes. Just keep the FSC code handy so you have if needed but do not worry about it if your idrive never asks for it.
I have had the system ask for the FSC code a week after update, before update, and never. Most recently, I updated a 2016 F10 and 2016 F15 from 2015-2 to 2016-1 to 2016-2. I was never asked for FSC code. The FSC codes can already be in the system but maps not updated on delivery because they were not ready yet for release. Some 2016 2-series convertibles have 4G sim card and will get OTA map updates. |
